The ‘Fashion Star’ host and new mom opened up about her struggle to lose the baby weight after giving birth to Maxwell, and admitted she overdid it with the junk food when she was pregnant! Read on to find out what she said.
Jessica Simpson has struggled with her weight ever since she entered show business more than 10 years ago. So when she got pregnant last year with daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson, the singer and fashion designer felt it was time to let loose with her eating habits.
“I let myself indulge in everything I wanted because it was the first time I was ever pregnant, and I wanted to enjoy it,” she told USA Today. “I wanted to be happy and eat what I wanted.”
One of her favorite treats included super-fattening macaroni and cheese, which she ate without thinking about the future consequences.
“I didn’t realize it (the weight) didn’t all come off with the baby,” she said.
She has been following Weight Watchers since she gave birth in May, and said she believes in the program’s overall message. “They want me to be healthy,” she said.
“I’ve lost weight every single week,” and added that she is “eating less of everything, (but) I don’t believe in completely depriving yourself.”
Although the Fashion Star host won’t say how much she weighed at her heaviest or what her current number on the scale is, she said she’s committed to losing the weight to be healthy, no matter how long it takes to get there.
“My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel,” Jessica said. “I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself.”
