Selena Gomez Will Miss MTV VMAs For 'Spring Breakers' Premieres

Fans hoping to see Selena and Justin Bieber walk the carpet together at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards may not want to hold their breath. Selena will NOT be attending this year’s awards show, her rep reveals to HollywoodLife.com exclusively.

Selena Gomez will not be attending the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 6 because she will be in Toronto — promoting her edgy new movie Spring Breakers!

“[Selena] will be in Toronto for the film festival and will not be attending the VMAs,” her rep tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively!

Spring Breakers is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday Sept. 5 while it will screen at the Toronto Film Festival starting Friday Sept. 7.

That’s a lot of traveling for Selena! We can definitely see why she’d have to miss out on this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. However, we can certainly say we’ll miss seeing her on the carpet!

While this new film will certainly be a departure from Selena, she’s a bit nervous for the premiere. ”People will be a little shocked, I think. I’m a little nervous about it, but honestly, it’s a right step for me, I’m really proud of it,” Selena said earlier this summer, adding, “I think as an actress it really challenged me. All of the other actresses are also trying to prove themselves, so it was just really, really fun.”

This new movie is tasteless and degrating. I really hoped for more for this beautiful girl. This is not being a good role model for younger girls.

yes it comes out in 2013 but they show it to the media and critics on different film festivals like venice and the toronto film festival. plus she not going to miss much this year show is going to suck.
