The Honey Boo Boo family matriarch insists the crazy antics shown on TV makes her and her brood relatable! Find out what she said.
There’s no denying Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has made quite the splash on reality TV, but the show’s head of the household, Mama June Shannon, says her family is not only entertaining, they are also relatable to viewers!
The self-proclaimed “redneck” family, which includes Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 7, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, 40, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 12, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon 15, and Anna “Chickadee” Shannon, 17, make viewers laugh every week on their TLC show with their eccentric family endeavors.
However, Mama June says her family is a lot like everyone else — and that’s why viewers tune in!
“A lot of people say they can relate to us,” June told Ryan Seacrest during an interview on his KIIS-FM radio show.
“Our fan base tells us that when they have a bad day they can be able to watch our show and be able to get a good laugh; I honestly laugh at the show too because it is kind of funny, because we know we have fun filming it. It’s just all about having fun and making memories.”
She also said as much fun as she likes to have with her girls, she knows her number-one priority is being a mom.
“I am a parent first and foremost; I’m also their best friend and they’re able to come to me about situations,” she told Ryan. “We do act crazy a little bit, [but] we know when to be serious.”
With their crazy antics, including bobbing for pigs feet, extreme couponing, and mud wrestling, it seems the Honey Boo Boo family is anything but average — and that’s why we love them!
