‘GMA’ Anchor Robin Roberts left her position a day early as she told viewers ‘some things happened at home.’ We now know Robin rushed home to see her ailing mother Lucimarian.

Robin Roberts‘ mother Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts died on August 30 at the age of 88. We are so sad to hear this news.

Robin first revealed her MDS diagnosis on June 11 on Good Morning America, adding that she would be receiving a bone marrow transplant from her sister, 55-year-old Sally-Ann Roberts.

Robin was supposed to start her medical leave on Friday, August 31, but on August 30, she told viewers she was leaving a day early to go home. She rushed to Mississippi to see her mother before her death.

Robin tweeted on August 30,”Dear ones, this is my final morn @GMA for a while. Heading home after the show to be w/ my ailing mom in MS. You’ll be in my heart & soul.”

She also re-tweeted a message from co-worker George Stephanopoulos: “I feel that you and Sam are here with us this AM. RT @GStephanopoulos: I’m in Tampa, but my heart is with you today, @RobinRoberts #TeamRobin.”

In another tweet, she continued, “This morning is a memory I will cherish forever. Thank you and bless you. Sally-Ann and I are on our way to be with our beloved mother. X0″

After news of her mother’s death, NBC anchor Hota Kotb tweeted on August 31, “@RobinRoberts … Sigh… I am so sorry to hear abt your mom. I am praying for you xoxo”

Robin has had such an emotional last few months — we’re just happy Robin was able to see her mother one last time. Our thoughts are with the entire Roberts family.
