The morning host announced on Aug. 30 that she was going to start her medical leave a day early. Read on to find out why she’s rushing out the door!

Robin Roberts is about to undergo a bone marrow transplant, but she’s always thinking about others. The 51-year-old Good Morning America host had announced that her final day was going to be Aug.31 but due to her sick mother and her own medical needs, she left one day earlier. How sad are you to see her go?

“I had planned to let tomorrow be the last day,” she said. “And then some things happened at home and I wanna take care of that before I begin my treatment next week.”

Fans and the whole GMA staff surrounded Robin and even her favorite singer, country star Martina McBride performed for her. Robin says though that she’ll definitely be back after her surgery, thank goodness!
