Rob’s ‘Cosmopolis’ director, David Cronenberg, says that the ‘Twilight’ films led people to think that Rob isn’t a good actor! Can you believe it?
The Twilight saga has made Robert Pattinson into one of the biggest celebrities in the world, but is it possible that they’ve also made people consider Rob as an actor who isn’t very good? David Cronenberg, his Cosmopolis director, sure thinks so!
In an interview promoting their film, David tells French FnacTV that he thinks the success of the Twilight films push people to think negatively about Rob, when explaining why he chose him for the film. “I had seen a few movies he had done,” David says. “Of course, I’d seen Twilight, but I saw other movies as well and I was convinced, finally, that he had the right presence and he had the right dramatic range to play this role even though I know that because Twilight was so successful, many people would like to say, ‘Oh, he’s not really a very good actor, it’s the vampire make-up.’”
David says that even though he felt people had that perception of Rob, the massive success of the Twilight films also are what made it possible for the two of them to work together. “I’m very happy for the Twilight movies because they gave me the possibility to work with Rob,” he said.
