Chris has another commitment that will keep him away from this year’s MTV Video Music Awards! He must be so disappointed!
Even though Chris Brown is nominated for two awards at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, the 23-year-old singer won’t be in the house to accept if he wins.
After reports claiming that Chris would be at the Staples Center for the show on Thursday, Sept. 6 surfaced, his rep told Gossip Cop that “he will not be at VMAs in any capacity.” Chris’ rep has further confirmed to HollywoodLife.com, “No, he is not attending. Never was as he has another commitment.”
Chris is nominated for Best Male Video and Best Choreography for his “Turn Up The Music” video. He’s previously taken home a coveted Moonman for Best Male Video in 2008 for his “With You” video.
One of the producers behind Chris’ nominated song, Harvey Mason Jr., hailed Chris as “this generation’s Michael Jackson” in an interview with MTV News in January of 2012.
“He’s so well-rounded, so versatile, he can really cover anything. He kills the uptempos, he can do the urban uptempo records, he could do the ballads, he could do the pop songs. You can really come to him with any record that you think is that hot. He is, for me right now and for many people, the ultimate artist. He’s kinda this generation’s Michael Jackson, if you will.”
The VMAs air Thursday, Sept. 6 on MTV at 8pm EST.
Are you disappointed that Chris won’t be at this year’s VMAs, HollywoodLifers?
