Rob and Katy met for dinner at Soho House in West Hollywood on Aug. 23 and narrowly missed a run-in with her ex-boyfriend, John Mayer, a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY! Read on for the inside scoop.

Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry have reportedly been leaning on each other during their recent heartbreaks, even having met for dinner on Thursday, Aug. 23 at West Hollywood’s Soho House! The two are close friends who feel comfortable in each other’s company, a source tells us.

A friend of Katy’s tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “Last Thursday night, Katy and Rob met up at the Soho House in West Hollywood for a bite to eat. They are close friends and can just be themselves when they are with each other.”

Our source tells us that Katy, 27, is trying to be there for Rob, 26, during the aftermath of being cheated on by Kristen Stewart. “Katy has been trying to be as supportive as she can for Rob. She understands what he’s going thru and wants to help him. Katy has been urging Rob to go out and be silly and have fun!”

Their dinner together narrowly avoided becoming an awkward evening, as Katy’s ex John Mayer showed up at the same place, only after Katy left! “Katy only stayed for about an hour and lucky for her because John Mayer ended up showing up to the Soho House about an hour later and was flirting with some girls,” our source tells us. “Rob left about 15 minutes after John arrived. The two did not interact,” they say. Talk about awkward!

With Katy and Rob looking to each other for comfort from their respective heartaches, should they just start dating, HollywoodLifers?

GC depunket already last week that Katy Perry and Rob never been to the Soho house on 8/23. He was on his way to London Thursday/arrived in London Friday. Flightattendant tweeted…..

KRISTEN needs to learn how to grow up. she is not a baby anymore she is an adult. Her cheating was not a mistake but a choice. If she really loved Rob than she wouldn’t have even THOUGHT ABOUT CHEATING. Can we say she loved Rupert so much that she didnt even care if she got photographed because in the pics of cheating she was smiling and kept kissing rupert after she knew the paparazzi were taking pics. SO NO SHE DIDN’T CARE ABOUT ROB’S FEELING AND LIBERTY AND THE KIDS. And liberty is trying to work her marriage because they have KIDS! Why would Rob forgive kristen huh she deserves the backlash she is getting. SHE is gonna know what she has lost.

^dont bring other women down to make ur idol seem so much better. Because shes not. Kristen isnt better than katy and katy isnt better than kristen. They just have to diff types of personalities. And katy isnt a slut and she hasnt been with that many men. Travie mccoy, Matt thiessen, Russel, that guitarist of some band and john. Thats not alot. Especially over a course of 5 years. And two of those were casual dating not even a real relationship.

This is false.

I have no idea where Rob was on Thrusday night but People Magazine (a reliable source) said that Katy Perry went out Thursday night in West Hollywood. She attended a show by the artist Ferras at Bootsy Bellows club

You keep on posting about something that has already been confirmed that it never happened. PATHETIC, and I really doubt that Robert would move on that fast if he ever loved Kristen. If I were Katy Perry I would hang out with Rob rather than John Mayer! I think Katy could be a good influence on Rob. She smiles a lot and has a positive outlook on life!
