The oldest JoBro and his wife aren’t quite ready to have babies — they already have their hands full with two pooches!

Kevin and Danielle Jonas have said their family really wants them to have kids, but they’re in no rush. Especially since they have two little ones at home!

The couple, who got married in 2009 and star in their new reality show Married to Jonas, are “parents” to dogs Riley, a 2-year-old Morkie, and Maci, a 1-year-old Maltese.

“They’re getting us ready for kids,” Danielle told People magazine. “Definitely, especially when they’re puppies. Every hour they’re waking up.”

Their struggles with training their puppies will be documented on their show, and Kevin even said their parenting styles have already come out with their dogs!

“Dani’s going to be the easy one and I’m going to have to be the disciplinarian,” he said.

We can’t wait to tune in and see! What do YOU think HollyMoms?

While having dogs prepare you for babies don’t forget to prepare the dogs for the baby too!! Too often they are forgotten when the times comes. When I was pregnant with my first child, Sara I used a book called Tell Your Dog You’re Pregnant: An essential guide for dog owners who are expecting a baby. It was really helpful and came with a CD of sounds. Max (my fur child!) took some time to get used to the sounds but the book helped on how to do it. Maybe they should use it.

No, stupid big-mouth celebrities, this is the worst possible way to prepare you for parenthood! First of all, these dogs can easily live 15 years and are probably not the best “breeds” to have around when you have small children. (“Morkies” are MUTTS, not a breed, and therefore unpredictable as far as temperament goes.) You should wait until your child is 5 or 6 years old before getting a dog. Children younger than that simply do not have the capacity for empathy necessary to treat a dog properly. You can tell them not to pull a dog’s tail, for example, but they really won’t understand why.

Want to prepare for being parents? Spend time with friends and family who have small children. Offer to babysit when you are comfortable that you can. Volunteer for programs for children where you are under the supervision of experienced mentors. This list goes on and on — but it does not include caring for animals.

That was a bit extreme. Jeez, who peed in your cheerios? dogs teach you responsibility and that’s what he was saying.
