Robert Pattinson Disses ‘Twilight’ In New Interview

Rob seems to be biting the hand that fed him — dissing ‘Twilight’ in a brand-new interview! Read on for all the details!

Breaking Dawn — Part 2 has yet to hit theaters, but Robert Pattinson is wasting no time dissing the franchise that made him a household name.

Rob said that since Twilight opened, he has “had four years of gradually being put more and more into smaller and smaller boxes, and you have a desire to break out.”

Rob certainly broke out of his box when he signed on to star in Cosmopolis. “You get stuck in this rut where you want people to think you’re something else, but you’re too scared to do what that is to actually be the other person,” Rob said during a recent interview. The 26-year-old star let go of his self-awareness, worry, and fear by taking on a role completely outside of what his fans would expect.

While dissing the franchise, Rob also took a jab at reports that he was paid a hefty penny to star in all five films in The Twilight Saga. According to Forbes, Rob earned $12.5 million for the last two Twilight films — a number he swears is “completely not true.”

I don’t think he is dissing Twilight. He has said that like he wouldn’t be here if he wouldn’t sign on to Twilight. I have a terrible English so if somebody understands what I’m trying to say, please tell it to the others.

I don’t think he was dissing Twilight at all. I think all he was saying was that he’s being typecast, which is any actor’s worry after playing the same role in 5 movies. The Harry Potter cast all said something similar, as did Heath Ledger after he did 10 Things I Hate About You. When something gives you your claim to fame, fans tend to peg you as that character, which actors hate. He’s just saying he’s excited for people to see him as Robert Pattinson, a good actor, and not just Edward Cullen.

I have seen all his interviews and he had done nothing but prase Twilight, the Twilight fans, the cast and acknowledged that he would not be where he was today without Twilight and their fans. How can anyone say that Rob was dissing Twilight? He’s saying the was scared of being typecast, which these sorts of films tend to do, like Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter. People who read this and believe it should get a life.

Sorry I read the article in full and I did not getthe impression that Robert Pattinson dissed the Twilight franchise or hisbfans in any way. The article wriiter Chris Rodgers has failed to comprehend an actors love of his or hers profession is grow and expand not in just one role or to tell one story but to bring to life many characters from many stories. Robert is saying if he stays where he is, here and now, he will not grow in his chosen craft. He will be confined (in a box) never finding or reaching for more. Chris Rodgers you write and present your articles for Hollywoodlife, are you reaching towards something different, greater in your life as well? Or, have you settled where you are? Do you have a book or books in your future? Or, to present articles to a more established news publications? Please write the positive twists in a story don’t seek the negative side only. I get what he means that he’s not being taken seriously. He’s known as the sparkling vampire from one of the worst movies of this decade; whenever I see him in a movie it’s hard for me to take him and the movie seriously. I commend him for taking on serious, meaningful roles, though, and not staying the tween movie genre.

nobody made him do the twilight movies he could have said no. but has you remember before twilight he had no money he was in dept and had no job. it could not have been the worst movie for him becouse those worst movie as you call them made him rich. and if it was not for twilight you would never heard of robert pattinson.

@denice how can you say he had no job or money before twilight? He had 2 other films out the same same year as twilight and had regular work, in movies and tv before then. He was a big hit in Harry Potter as Cedrick and made his name there so get your facts right as you made yourself look a bit stupid there ;)

He did not diss Twilight. He merely stating fact that he is known as Edward Cullen and breaking out of that typecast is difficult as his fans believe him as this character only.

I hope Rob knows his fans have seen him as a serious actor since the first twilight movie came out. We may have loved to watch him as Edward but most of us have seen his other movies too. It’s the movie critics and his fellow actors that had a hard time taking him seriously not his fans. Even though we will always love to think about the “Edward” times, we’ve always wanted to see everything Rob is capable of. the Hollywood execs have pigeon holes us fans and now everyone thinks we can’t differentiate between Edward and Rob. they think we’re mindless idiots. Even though we love him as Edward, we love him as Rob the actor even more. God I hope Rob knows that.

He didn’t diss Twilight idiot , he sad that after Twilight he got typecasted and that it’s very difficult for people to see him as anything else. That’s why he took the film role Cosmopoliis. Stirring the pot with a misleading title once again huh HL? Hes saying its hard for him to break out and do serious movies because of twilight. He wasnt “dissing” it. Twilight is a “safety net”. He just wants to be taken seriously as an actor.
