During a family fishing trip, a Georgia mom frantically ran into the river while holding her baby to save her three-year-old son in the water — how awful.
After her son Davie, 3, wandered into the Chattahoochee River, Krystal Brown, 30, and her other son Mister, 11 months, waded into the water to rescue him. All three were pulled under the water by strong currents in the river.
Davie is currently in the hospital in critical condition. Krystal and Mister’s bodies were discovered by divers from the Columbus Fire Department and pronounced dead at the scene.
Davie’s grandfather explained to WTVM that after Krystal and her sons were pulled into the current, her husband jumped in and tried to save them.
“Krystal just immediately jumped in the river and he said by the time he got there…” he explained. “She just slipped away and when he fought his way up, trying to save his own life at the time and the baby was gone that way and he said it just wasn’t anything he could do.”
According to police, there is a 15-foot drop off in the river which is believed to have caused Krystal and her sons to go under.
‘The divers were able to locate the victims within two minutes of hitting the water so we were very fortunate in that respect,” Columbus Fire Marshall Ricky Shores told WTVM. “However, they were underwater for approximately 30 minutes.”
Krystal leaves behind five other children.
