In Rob’s first appearance on ‘The Daily Show’ after the K-Stew cheating scandal, he seemed nervous but was smiling and adorable. Funny-man Jon Stewart kept us laughing by making his opinions known — he thinks Rob should dump Kristen!
Robert Pattinson, in an interview on The Daily Show on August 13, broke his silence for the first time since the world saw photos of Kristen Stewart cheating on Rob with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director. After Jon Stewart playfully offered Rob ice cream to heal his broken heart, Rob finally spoke out — but Jon had his own opinion!
Although he looked handsome, Rob seemed nervous — he knew what questions were coming! Right away, Jon put a pint of Ben & Jerry’s in front of Rob. Rob said he was being careful not too eat too much because, “I don’t want to split my spanx!”
Jon treaded lightly but asked him more directly about the affair and how he was feeling. Rob was hesitant, finally saying, “Now I’m going to sound like an idiot. My biggest problem in my life is I’m cheap. I didn’t hire a publicist. And in every awkward interview, normally actors get these things scripted.”
As you may remember, Kristen issued this heartfelt public apology just one day after the cheating photos surfaced.
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” she said. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
Jon told Rob that when you’re young, a breakup feels like “the end of the world.” We were in the pre-taped interview audience and Rob responded, “It is,” to which the audience went “Awww!” That was cut from the show.
As they were eating their Ben & Jerry’s, Jon told Rob, “We’re just a couple of gals talking!” And then hysterically said, ”Boy, you are better off! Kick her to the curb!” Rob just laughed and smiled. We’re glad Rob took the high road and didn’t diss Kristen in this very public forum!
