On the set of the last ‘Twilight’ movie, the director used a robot to stand in for Renesmee — and called it an epic fail! Read on for more details.

Before director Bill Condon found the actor to play Renesmee, newcomer Mackenzie Foy, he used a mechanical doll dubbed “Chuckesmee” after the creepy Chucky doll from the horror film Child’s Play!

The cast couldn’t help making fun of the doll’s eerie face and movements, and Rob Pattinson even called it “that robot baby,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

“Chuckesmee was a giant misfire on all fronts,” Bill said. ”Truly, it was one of the most grotesque things I’ve ever seen.”

“It was a horror show!” he continued. “There was one shot where I call ‘cut,’ and suddenly she turns her head and stares right into the camera. It was incredibly disturbing.”

After the failure of the Chuckesmee robot, Bill decided to digitally add Mackenzie’s face to various stand-ins for Renesmee in post-production. But the humor and horror of the scary robot will live on — Bill says it will be featured on the DVD extras!
