A source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Twilight actor Taylor Lautner was first up for the role in the summer blockbuster The Expendables 2, but he passed and the studio cast Liam Hemsworth instead.
“Taylor was offered the role and passed on the offer,” a source close to the situation tells us. He was their first choice but ultimately decided to pass. Liam was cast soon after.
The Expendables 2 hits theaters on August 17.

To which was all say, thank God. Lautner is a terrible actor, and even worse as an action star – there is a reason he stopped getting work after Abduction, he has all the screen presence and acting ability of a garden zucchini. Hemsworth, say what you will, can act and has a prescience on screen beyond making teen girls fap to his abs.
Oh, and the fangirls saying ‘Why would Launter want to be in a movie with a bunch of washed up action stars?’ – because the least of them has more talent in his shoe than ol’ Sharkboy possesses in his entire body, have members revered the world over across multiple demographics, have people among them who have both been nominated and won Acadamy Awards, spearheaded some of the greatest movies of all time, and be remembered as icons for decades after they die. Lautner will be forgotten once his tween fan girls graduate middle school and TigerBeat stops putting his face on the cover.
