On tonight’s episode, Tyler’s dad Butch gets into a drunken fight with his wife — slamming her head into a wall and choking her with a towel — and gets sent back to prison. Also, Maci and Kyle buy a house and Farrah introduces Sophia to her new man!

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra find out that Butch was thrown in jail (yet again) for attacking Catelynn’s mom (and Butch’s wife) April. Butch confesses that he loves drugs more than anything in his life, and has no hope to get sober. This just reinforces their belief that Carly is in a better place with her adoptive parents.

Meanwhile, Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley struggle to meet eye-to-eye on visitation with daughter Leah, and Maci Bookout and Kyle King are forced out of their condo.

Catelynn’s mom April calls Tyler to let him know that his dad Butch got sent back to jail — for beating up April! It sounds like a pretty intense situation, so Catelynn goes over to check on how April is doing. She is still shaken up and upset over the whole ordeal, but isn’t sure how to handle the situation or her marriage to Butch.

April says she and Butch had a couple beers (keep in mind they are both recovering alcoholics and drug addicts), and when they came home, Butch got jealous that April was on the phone. Although she was talking to a girlfriend, her husband thought she was talking to another man and he attacked her. Catelynn reminded her mom that her marriage to Butch is extremely Toxic, but April says she still loves Butch and isn’t sure what to do.

April also apologized for giving Catelynn a hard time for giving up Carly years ago. “I forgave you, but I can never forget,” Catelynn said. She wants to believe that her mom wants to turn her life around, and is prepared to do whatever it takes to be supportive. April promises to go to AA meetings with a girlfriend.

When Tyler and Catelynn come back later to talk to April, she shows Tyler her bruised arm and April recounts their brutal fight again. He slammed her head into the bathroom wall and left a hole, and then wrapped a towel around her neck to choke her, and kept calling her a “stupid b**ch.” April STILL isn’t sure what she wants to do, and can’t promise she’ll leave him because she loves him.

“This isn’t fair, why whould you do this to yourself?” Tyler says. To drive the point home, he reads a text message he got from his dad, in which he said he loves his son out of instinct, but “to be honest, I think I love cocaine more than anything or anyone at this point.” Tyler reiterates that Butch has and always will love drugs more than his own son or his own wife, and April shouldn’t stick around for it.

April says she has a breakthrough and will file for divorce, but Tyler and Catelynn seem skeptical. When they go over the situation alone in their car, they can’t help but think about how rough their childhoods were, and that Carly is safe and happy in her bed, not having to deal with all of this drama.

After going horesbeack riding with her new love interest Daniel, Farrah decides to take Sophia for her first horseback ride for an adorable mother-daughter date. On the way back from the stables, Farrah tells Sophia she’s going to meet Daniel soon — Sophia does not seem too happy about that.

However, the three of them go out to dinner together, and they all have a lovely time! Daniel says Sophia is a “very cute girl,” and thinks Farrah has been handling being a mom very well, especially for being so young. Daniel and Farrah even talk about going to Austin, Texas together which is where Daniel is from. When they get back home, the three of them Skype with Farrah’s mom Debra Danielson, and she is excited to “meet” David, or at least see him.

When Farrah asks her mom if she can come down to Florida to watch Sophia while the two go out of town, Debra agrees and seems excited to help out! It is a nice change to see everyone in Farrah’s family getting along so well. We’ll see if that lasts next week.

Maci and Kyle have to leave their condo because the landlord sold the building. While looking for a new place to live, the two decide they want to buy and not rent. However, their new home will be in Kyle’s name — a fact Maci is kind of nervous about. Although Maci says she wants to settle down with Kyle and have more kids with him, she wants to wait until after they get married. She doesn’t want to end up “single, with two babies, by two different baby daddies.” Smart girl.

Maci’s mom even agrees, and tells Maci she’s “screwed” if the two of them break up when the house is in Kyle’s name. (In retrospect, Maci’s mom has a good point). However, Maci and Kyle still seem confident that they want to move in together, so after searching for houses with their realtor, they finally find one that’s just right! Although it’s a bit of a fixer-upper, the happy couple is looking forward to building their house and lives together.

Meanwhile, Ryan Edwards is feeling the pressure from his mom yet again about seeking joint custody of their son Bentley. He says that and Maci will “basically have to come to an agreement,” and his mom chimes in, “it’s for Bentley’s best interest.”

Amber hits the books and is trying to focus on finishing up her high school degree. But now that she’s back from rehab, she is struggling with Gary to arrange visitation with their daughter Leah. Because Gary and Amber still have a no contact order where they can’t be in the same room together with Leah, Gary refuses to let Amber come over to see her daughter, even for five minutes.

Amber and her sister go out to dinner so Amber can vent and take her mind off of the situation, and Amber admits that she thinks Gary is being difficult on purpose. The next day, Amber’s anger escalates when she believes Gary is being “rude” over the phone about their time agreement with Leah, and she snaps on him, calling him a “fat a**” and “piece of sh**t,” among other names.

Although Amber is fresh out of rehab for her anger management problems, she lashes out at Gary yet again when he drops Leah off. Hopefully she can learn to cool down for her daughter’s sake.
