An Amish woman, who was nine months pregnant, died after she was struck by lightning — the day she was due to give birth! Read on for the tragic details.
A pregnant woman and her family were picking blackberries near their Pennsylvania home on July 24, when a large storm blew into the area. Mary H. Yoder, 36, sought shelter under a pine tree, while her husband and kids ducked under another tree nearby. A few minutes later, lightning hit the tree and killed Mary and her unborn baby instantly.
Mary was nine months pregnant and due to give birth to her child that day.
“This thunderstorm that we had came up pretty quick,” Elmer Kinsinger, 37, a friend of the family told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “They started for home, but then I guess it got to raining pretty good. They stood under the pine tree.”
Luckily, Mary’s husband and her two kids were unharmed.
What a tragedy HollyMoms. Our thoughts are with the Yoder family at this time.
