Uh oh! Emily and Arie’s emotional goodbye was allegedly staged by the show’s producers because Arie was the one who actually broke up with her! Read on to find out what happened!

During The Bachelorette season finale on July 22, Emily Maynard appeared to be more sure than ever that Jef Holm was the man for her.

But according to a new report in In Touch magazine, Emily was actually dumped by runner-up Arie Luyendyk, Jr. — because despite what viewers saw — Emily allegedly spent the night with Jef AND Arie in the fantasy suite (not together) — and neither of them knew about the other!

Arie reportedly was so upset when he found out that he left.

“Arie didn’t know that she had been sleeping with other people,” a source tells the mag.

Emily allegedly went on what was supposed to be their final date on the show and told Arie that she was in love with him. But Arie didn’t feel the same way.

“I don’t think I want to do this,” an angry Arie allegedly said to Emily. “I understand the show, but you’re sleeping with other people, too — this isn’t a sign of the person I want to be with.”

Ouch! Producers reportedly were shocked by Arie’s reaction and had to come up with a new ending to save Emily from embarrassment. Their solution? Exactly what we saw during the finale!

“Producers told him, ‘You’re going to make this look really bad for yourself if you don’t come along. You’re contractually obligated if we want you there,'” a source tells the mag.

Hmm! If this is true, that was one clever ending!
