'Pretty Little Liars' Recap: Mona Drops A 'Crazy' Clue About Maya's Death

Pretty Little Liars Episode 307

Plus, Emily’s new friend CeCe might just be crazier than Alison — if that’s possible.

If I were to conjure up a sentence to describe the July 24 episode of Pretty Little Liars, it would be this: “Naughty uncles think swiftly.” Translated via Mona’s (Janel Parrish) special code, that means “nuts.” Are you still confused? Yeah, welcome to my world.

The episode began, awkwardly enough, with Detective Wilden appearing on Hanna’s (Ashley Benson) doorstep to get a blood sample. (Some neighbors ask for sugar, others ask for blood.) It’s clear Hanna has become a prime suspect in Alison’s murder, which is why it’s super unfortunate that this week also marked Ali’s dad’s return to Rosewood. She could really use a comforting hug from Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) right about now — you know, if she hadn’t totally screwed up that relationship.

Desperate to clear her name, Hanna dropped by the local insane asylum to visit Mona, with her trusty BFF Aria (Lucy Hale) by her side. (Side note: It’s very telling that Rosewood, despite being a small town, has its own nuthouse.) After a few disturbing interactions with the former “A,” the girls overheard Mona muttering a bunch of nonsense, including: “Ms. Aria, you’re a killer; not Ezra’s wife.”

As it turns out, Mona was speaking in her own special code language — a series of acronyms and nonsense — which directed the girls to their strangest discovery yet: A website with Maya’s (Bianca Lawson) picture on it! Now all they need to do is figure out the site’s password in order to unlock… well, I’m not really sure. But whatever it is, it will probably be shocking. (Also, it’s about Maya, so the password is probably “pot.”)

In other twisted news, Jason (Drew Van Acker) went on a drunken joyride and crashed his car — but before you ask, no damage was done to his ridiculously perfect face, thank God. I’m also thankful for Queen Spencer (Troian Bellisario), who covered the whole thing up so no one would know her half-brother was driving drunk. Toby (Keegan Allen) seemed especially against Spencer lying for Jason, but as always, his opinion was quickly dismissed. (Doesn’t he know the first rule about dating a Pretty Little Liar? The boyfriend’s only real job is to play dumb and look pretty.)

Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) life also took a complicated turn this week. Not only did she befriend CeCe Drake, a disturbing Alison look-alike, but Maya’s cousin Nate also told her she was the prettiest girl in Rosewood. In fact, he basically told her that if she wasn’t into girls, he’d be really into her. The parade of weirdness concluded when CeCe called Jenna (Tammin Sursok) and threatened to “scratch her eyes out” if she didn’t stay away from Nate.

Is it possible that CeCe just out-crazied Alison? I’m scared, you guys.

What did you think of this week’s ‘puzzling’ episode? Any guesses about the secrets on Maya’s website? Do you predict Toby and Spencer will be the next couple to call it quits? And who wants to bet that Nate isn’t done being a major creeper? Drop me a comment with your thoughts and theories!
