James was arraigned in court on July 22 for the senseless shooting spree that took the lives of 12 people in Aurora, Colo., and he appeared to be falling asleep at times. But experts don’t believe that he was exaggerating his mental state.
James Holmes is an alleged murderer and not an actor, according to top experts. HollywoodLife.com spoke to psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman, body language expert Dr. Lilian Glass, and family therapist Dr. Jeff Gardere, who tell us that James, 24, who faces countless charges for the July 20 shooting during the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises, looked like he in a state of “confusion.”
“James looked as if he was trying to wake up from a nightmare,” Dr. Carole Lieberman tells us. “But every time he opened his eyes, he realized the nightmare was real. This confusion is typical of people who have immersed themselves in fantasy media violence and are having trouble getting back in touch with reality.”
Dr. Glass, who works alongside the FBI on certain cases, tells HollywoodLife.com that James definitely wasn’t faking it.
“He could be medicated or sleep deprived,” she says. “No way he’s not faking, because he had episodes where he is trying to keep his eyes open. His behavior is too consistent, he did it too many times. It was like he was groggy.”
We also spoke with Dr. Gardere who says that although James seems to be exaggerating, it’s because he is “emotionally exhausted.”
