What should you do if you make plans with a friend and then they bail on you at the last minute? — Laura H. in Chicago
Sometimes friends bail, it’s just a fact of life. When this happens, shoot out an email or call some of your other friends to see if they can join you. Also, in the future, when making plans with this friend invite others too so if she flakes, it won’t change your plans. HAVE FUN!
What’s the best way to ask for a raise or promotion at work? — Jasmine B. in Portland
If you think you deserve a raise or promotion, schedule a time with your boss to discuss your goals. Before the meeting, make a list of what you’ve accomplished in your current job and try to be a specific as possible about how you’ve boosted sales or improved the company and why you would be the right candidate for a promotion. STAY POSITIVE.
What’s the best thing to do if you say something offensive to someone and they call you out? — Jesse T. in Los Angeles
We all occasionally blurt out thoughts better kept to ourselves but when we do this, it’s important to immediately apologize. You can say, “I’m so sorry I offended you and I understand why you are upset with me.” The best way to avoid situations like this is to think before you speak. MEA CULPA!
