The ‘Dark Knight Rises’ shooting suspect — identified as 24-year-old James Holmes — is said to have described himself as ‘the Joker, enemy of Batman.’ Find out all the details.
During a midnight screening of the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises, a crazed gunman, suspected to be James Holmes, opened fire on moviegoers, killing 12 and wounding at least 59.
The 24-year-old former University of Colorado student told cops that he was Batman’s arch nemesis.
“He said he was the Joker, enemy of Batman,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said, adding that the shooter had also painted his hair red.
James was arrested shortly after the rampage.
Cops later surrounded James’ apartment in North Aurora, Colorado, which ended up being booby-trapped with “very sophisticated” explosives, authorities said.
“There were bullet (casings) just falling on my head,” eyewitness Jennifer Seeger told the Associated Press.
“Every few seconds it was just: Boom, boom, boom,” she added. “He would reload and shoot, and anyone who would try to leave would just get killed.”
Our thoughts are with all of the family and friends of the reported 50+ victims of this horrible tragedy.
