A good samaritan saved a 7-year-old girl as she fell out of her apartment building window three stories high. The girl crawled outside on top of an air conditioning unit, only to trip and fall. Luckily, a man was quick on his feet and caught the girl before she landed on the ground. Find out the amazing details!
A Brooklyn girl has a complete stranger to thank for saving her life. Keyla McCree, 7, crawled out of her three-story window in Coney Island Houses. As she was singing and dancing on top of an air conditioning unit, she tripped and fell, tumbling through the air.
Luckily Steve St. Bernard, 52, was waiting below with open arms.
“I just prayed that I’d catch her,” he told the New York Daily News. “I was right underneath her.”
Steve did catch her, and the girl walked away without even a scratch on her body!
Keyla, who is autistic, managed to push aside the accordion enclosure surrounding the AC unit, and then crawled through the small space. Onlookers watched the girl perform a song and dance routine on top of the air conditioner, fearing the worst.
“There were all these kids yelling,’the little girl, the little girl,'” Steve told CBS New York. “I saw a little girl standing on the air conditioner. I said, ‘Let me get over to her in time,’ and I made it just in time.”
Steve moved right under the girl, finding the perfect to grab spot in case she lost her balance.
“I went over there to make sure if she fell I could catch her,” he said. “I’m not a hero — anybody would have done it. I did it out of normal instincts.”
