Watch the first official clip from the fourth season of ‘The Vampire Diaries!’
Well, here’s a familiar sight! Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) once again find themselves fighting over Elena (Nina Dobrev) in the first legit footage released from The Vampire Diaries‘ upcoming fourth season. “And now the world has one more quarterback,” Damon says in his smarmiest voice possible. “Bravo, brother.”
The clip is part of a promo video from Comic-Con — which you can watch in full below — and while it was 98 percent comprised of footage from previous seasons, I have to tip my hat to The CW. They really put together a beautiful collection of clips to show just how much Elena did not want to become a vampire. In one heart-breaking speech from season two, Elena pours her heart out to Stefan as she explains her dreams for the future.
(A future that’s looking so bright anymore.)

Damon is better for Elena. He pushes her to grow and makes her stronger. He doesn’t automatically agree with everything she thinks but listens to what she has to say and converses with her when he doesn’t agree. I remember Stefen saying that she had changed while he was away murdering people for Klaus…she had become stronger. Who guided her transformation? Damon. He helps her become stronger, wiser and a more capable person. He also helps her have fun and makes her laugh. He likes to dance and have a good time. He is a better choice for Elena.

am a stelena fan and no matter the mistakes stefan made,i think its just to give damon chances,elena chosing stefan over damon makes alot of sense to me because elena never liked the fact that she is living,she didn’t have a reason to live until she met stefan who gave her reasons to be alive and happy and you know what?,damon was not a part of that
i think stefan likes her but damon loves her cuz love is love even wen pplz try to move aaway from de person tht u love and he hurt elena….

Elena changed Damon. but Damon changes her too.Stefan”s love is pure. that’s what Rose told Jeremy. and it”s very true. Stelena 4ever! We should never forget that, eventhough Damon met Elena first, his intention was to find Katherine. I think Katherin should be with Damon, not Elena. I really do not like Elena being a vampire. I wish anytthing could happen to reverse it as Uncle John did.

Rose also told Jeremy , stefan is the safe one and will always be good for her, but Damon makes her come alive he challenges Her, he is either the best thing for Her or the worst. Rose is rooting for delena.

i am so with u on this one,stefan is the best thing for her,damon meeting her first is not supposed to change things that much because,it was so clear that if elena does not look like katherine that damon might have fed on her that night they met.And damon called her katherine because he is obssesed with katherine. i dont see any reason why the words ‘i love stefan and it will always be stefan’ should change

Did they want Damon with Elena together so badly that they made Stefan look like an idiot. That scene with him saving Matt and not her was probably the worst crap I’ve ever seen. You’ve ruined the show for alot of us fans. You obviously have no respect for Paul or his fans. You made him look pathetic. He’s a vampire with vampire strength, yet he couldn’t grab both of them or unbuckle her? I’ve had it with this show.

I love the vampire diaries, and I’m really excited for season four. Though I do have thing that upsets me. Why would they add that Elena met damon first if it doesn’t even seem like it changes anything. It just seems really sad. I hope it at least makes Elena’s feelings for Damon grown the slightest bit. Or when he says he loved her but he’s selfish for loving her and stuff, it’s just sad. Very sad. (I’m sorry stefena fans, I’m happy for Stefan but I love Damon) I just wish there was a heated delena moment that last more than ten minutes in an episode. I’m super excited otherwise:D

I think because she said that if she’d met Damon first things might have been different and as we know from Caroline once you become a vampire all those glamoured memories come back to you, so maybe they’re going to have Elena remember meeting Damon first? Here’s hoping!!

I absolutely HATED the way Elena turned. I don’t mind Elena vamping, but Stefan swimming away & leaving Elena to drown….I can’t even wrap my mind around it. I know he didn’t do it intentionally, but to just leave he trapped in her seat belt at the bottom of a lake in a submerged vehicle……I just keep thinking, why didn’t he at least break her seat belt? He had enough strength to rip a steel door off a truck, but not undo a seat belt? Hell, she could have saved herself….
For me, it’s not about which “team” your on…it’s about what’s right, and what Stefan did wasn’t the right thing to do…PERIOD. You always save the person you love, always.

I think that true love is doing not what YOU want, but what the person you love wants. Elena wanted Stefan to save Matt first, and he did, regardless of what it cost him, because he loved her enough to grant her that one last selfless act.
It might not be understandable to some people. Sometimes you can’t save the person you love if they don’t want to be saved. Ultimately, it’s their choice, not yours– saying otherwise is rather selfish. Stefan allowed Elena to make that choice. I suppose that’s the difference between Stefan and Damon.

Did you see the flashback where Elena and her parents were in the car and they drove off the bridge? If you did you would understand that what you’re saying is impossible, even for a vampire with super strength like Stefan…

Selfless is not our thing to which we are complaining. Besides the fact he keeps letting her make those choices and her dying. Maybe once it would be sweet or romantic, but enough already. If I was drowning and my hubby was free, I would make him save my daughter. I get it about Stefan. If he could reach for my belt, great. if not ok. I get it was think fast. but he is a vamp. All that time under there fighting…for her choice…he could have broken her out. Just saying, it is distracting.
Leaving Elena down there was not many of our issues. He DIDN’T pull her seat belt OFF. After pulling a steal door off. That is one thing, I love the show, but seriously take more time. Its frustrating because even in the book Stefan always falls short of making the heroic impact he should-even could.

Before the Delena bullys start the usual “oh your a stelena” crap. I am a fan of ALL the cast of TVD’s. What I didn’t like about season 3 finale is they made Stefan the bad guy who got Elena killed, had elena meet Damon first, etc etc. It’s like they are purposely sabotaging Stefan’s character so Damon can have his little brothers girlfriend. Not sure if I’m gonna watch season 4. Probably will tune in from time to time. Love Caroline and Klaus’ story. Hope they at least get together. Also really hope that they start treating Bonnie better. They all call on her to help and never say thank you.

I kinda understand what your saying, but keep in mind that in the season 2 premiere they had Damon break Jeremy’s neck. I don’t think it’s an intentional destruction of character….I mean, if you think about it, they’ve put Damon through hell, and we’ve had to watch him on the never ending road to redemption for the last three seasons;)
I think it’s just the difference in the two brothers. Damon would have and has put Elena’s life first, Stefan let Elena talk him into making sure Matt got to safety first. Stefan should have gotten both of them out of the truck, he’s a vampire and should have remembered that. And frankly, Elena shouldn’t have gotten a vote, she should have just got her ass out of the truck;)

Klaus and Caroline have on screen chemistry but he just killed her best friend. ECT. That is another issue I have. People like them, but not DE and he is ten times worse than Damon. He told Tyler to bite Caroline…and she’d die, but OH he fell for her. He saved her. I am not trying to complain about your opinion personally, it is the story telling.
Fell, Jeremy, Matt and Rebekah are the reasons she is directly dead. Sure Stefan played the last part, but it was just a part.
Stefan sabotaged himself by saying he was one way when he isn’t. Then they made him flip right back. He is good because he is so dark. His heart is pure but he has an addiction. Damon’s heart is equally good, but much further buried. Both get the ax at times, and it is frustrating. Really he is ten times darker than Damon, and yet ten times better. He hid all of that…some stuff he has done is creepy (kats pic) and Elena caring for Damon after the neck snap is another issue. But I put it aside because it is tv.
I do not think Stefan killed her. I know that they intended for it to be a beautiful moment but it fell really short. Even after the explanation…I just don’t see it. I see it happening, but it makes no sense. All that waving and pointing…if he loved her…i just can’t fathom he’d NOT grab her. The story telling hurts Stefan. You take off a steal door, you try to be sweet and wave and banter…see what I mean. All that wasted time and air and strength.
They were trying to show Damon met her first, but he wished her well. He was selfless that first time. Also to show we were going back to the start. It is so that they can start all over, I thought, more than say-hey I love you. Now she sees him. Again, that was kind of a bad move too.

I really think it has to be stefan even though i like damon i just feel wierd and uncomfortable with them being together also stefen is really sweet and it took forever for me to grow on damon But i wish she can make up her damn mind already i mean seriously stelena stelena FOREVER
