After the unexpected loss of her daughter’s father, Michelle was forced to raise their young daughter alone. Now that her daughter is getting older, Michelle isn’t sure if she wants to add any more to her family.
Michelle Williams suffered an unimaginable loss when her daughter’s father Heath Ledger tragically passed away in 2008. She originally wanted their daughter Matilda Ledger, 6, to have close siblings, but as time went on, that possibility seemed further and further out of her reach.
“I really wanted, and I really expected or imagined, that Matilda would have siblings that were close to her age,” Michelle told People.
Michelle, 31, has moved on since Heath’s death, and is currently dating actor Jason Segal, who was recently spotted holding hands with Matilda. Although their relationship seems to be getting pretty serious, having more children is far from Michelle’s mind.
“I couldn’t make that happen,” the actress revealed. “And now that she’s six, that isn’t even a possibility anymore.”

Yea my poor only child who gets to go to private school, eat organically, and not wear hand me downs because of all the money I saved by making the responsible decision to only have one kid. She is going to HATE all the vacations we get to go on. And I’m going to HATE all the stress my body isn’t going to go through. But what I am going to truly hate the most is people asking, “Why only one kid?” It’s none of your DAMN business that’s why. I honestly don’t know why I am responding. Especially to people that cannot even bother with proper grammar. But that touched a nerve.
