'Bachelorette' Recap: Emily Maynard's Most Emotional Goodbye This Season

Mon, July 9, 2012 11:12pm EDT by 10 Comments

Emotions were high on fantasy suite night! Read on to find out WHO Emily spends the night with (if anyone!), WHO are the remaining two guys and WHO she sobs saying good-bye to. I’m still wiping away my tears…

It’s fantasy suite night: The one night during the Bachelor/Bachelorette series we get to see some steamy action.

Or so we thought! Emily Maynard has surprised us all season long and tonight was no different. It may have been hot in Curacao, but it did NOT get hot in the beach fantasy suite. Kids, you can keep reading on because the July 9 episode deserves a big fat PG rating, unless you think an excessive amount of tears warrants a higher one.

Emily’s Chopper Date With Sean Lowe

Emily and her three boys have landed in Curacao and Sean is up for the first adventure.

The fierce fitness trainer acts totally shocked when Emily surprises him with a helicopter ride. How can one honestly be surprised by that? The Bachelor/Bachelorette is famous for two things: helicopters and champagne.

Any way the two go on their merry way and have cute chatter. Sean tells Emily that he didn’t “like, like” his ex girlfriend and proceeds to ask her if she wants to share a juicebox. Something tells me Sean would get along with Ricki the best out of the remaining three.

The two go on to jump out of the chopper and then make way to a romantic dinner. However, when it’s time for Emily to offer Sean a key to the fantasy suite – she doesn’t!

I hope Sean didn’t take it personally because just wait until he sees what happens with the rest of the guys. Hmm!

Emily’s Hot Beach Date With Jef Holm

Emily surprises Jef with a boat and right from the start these two just can’t keep their hands off each other. The skater boy says he’s 100 percent sure he wants to be with Emily, but there’s still a little bit of doubt because a few “obstacles” remain– (cough, cough Sean and Arie). But he says he’s ready to propose and he wants to leave with Emily all to him. So freakin’ cute.

“Every time I look into Emily’s eyes I know I love this girl,” Jef says. “I feel different with Emily than I have with any girl.”

And he doesn’t waste time getting into a deep conversation.

“Do you think I’d be a good parent?” he asks.

“Yes,” Emily replies.

“I know Emily and I can work, but if Emily, Ricki and I can work then we are going to be perfect forever,” Jef tells the cameras.

Emily is so smitten with him. I don’t think she’d be like this if she didn’t think Ricki would love him. Right?

“I feel like he gets me in a way nobody else does,” Emily tells the cameras.

So cute! Can these two just say “I do” NOW? But more importantly, Jef has a lot of brothers, right? Because we need more men like him pronto! After they spend the day paddle boarding with Emily on the tip of the surfboard, they sit under the moonlight in haze of their new relationship bliss. And once again, Jef grills Emily about the future.

“Why do you think it hasn’t worked with any other guys in the past?” Jef asks.

“I have gone out with really great guys. But if you don’t have that unspoken, that ‘it’ it just is never going to happen. But I see so many things about you that are so great on paper, but also things that aren’t great on paper. You make me laugh, you make me smile, you ignite a self-confidence in me that I haven’t felt in awhile,” Emily says.

She even goes on to say she think he’d fit perfectly with her family! But then the time comes for the FANTASY SUITE. Clearly, Emily has had this planned out in her head all along — but so did Jef. When Emily asks him what he thinks they should do with the key, he surprises her by turning her down.

“I think it would be awesome, but I completely understand if your daughter is going to be watching this. My family is going to be watching this. There’s a time and place. I plan on spending the rest of my life in our own fantasy suite,” Jef says.

The two kiss and Jef tells her he loves her, but  he re-assures her they aren’t spending the night in the fantasy suite.

“I kind of wanted to turn him down,” Emily says, jokingly.

Emily’s Boat Date With Arie Luyendyk Jr.

Their date beings with Arie running in the sand while Emily yells at him to run faster — probably only so she can push him against a wall and kiss him again. These two begin locking lips right away. What does the day have in store for these two? Swimming with the dolphins!

“Life is all about new experiences and this is just one more thing we will do together,” Arie says.

And despite the excitement of the dolphins, Arie reveals he’s so in love with Em.

“It’s like kissing my best friend. We have such a chemistry together that we can’t even speak, we just want to kiss each other,” Arie says.

Um, hello, it’s called hormones! And those damn things are going to make it tough for Em to say no to the fantasy suite with him!

“It’s no secret that I just love kissing Arie,” Emily says. “Tonight is the overnight suite and it’s going to be hard not to spend the night with Arie.”

The two freshen up to get ready for a romantic dinner and Emily returns with more doubt. She reveals she feels like aside from their intense chemistry, she doesn’t even know who Arie is and what he does.

“I don’t even know what you do on a Tuesday morning,” Emily says.

What does he do? Well, when he’s not traveling he wakes up at 9am, goes to work (do we know what that is?) and then goes to dinner with friends because he doesn’t like to be alone. Hm.

And then come the difficult questions about Ricki.

“It’s tough because everything has been perfect between us. You make me feel like the man in the relationship and you give me so much confidence,” Arie says.

“It’s funny because I feel the same way about you,” Emily says. “You really have been that light at the end of the tunnel for me.”

Alas, it’s time for the fantasy suite, but as a role model and mother Emily says she can’t spend the night with him. Not only will she not spend the night with him, but she won’t even spend an hour in there with him like she did with Jef!

“I don’t trust myself, but good Lord is he hot,” Emily says.

Yikes! Emily goes on to cry about how there are three guys left, but only two roses to give. This is just the beginning of what I’d like to call a serious Bachelorette breakdown. Emily, get it together girl! It’s not like you’ve NEVER watched – or have been ON the show before! You know exactly what goes down. But clearly, what came next, was something she could never have prepared for.

The Saddest Goodbye

Before the rose ceremony Emily meets with her rumored real lover Chris Harrison to talk about all of the emotions she’s experiencing.

“Do you feel prepared to make a decision tonight? Are you ready?” Chris asks.

“I’ve made the right choices. It’s been really hard in the moment. I see a happy life with each of them. I see Ricki and I blending in perfect with each of them. I can honestly say I am falling in love with each of them in different ways. At the end of this I want to end up with one person and I can’t wait for that day, but I’m not ready to say goodbye,” Emily says. “I think this week more than ever I wish there was more time.”

But Chris gives Emily a much-needed reality check.

“We’re here, Emily. The next step is a proposal,” Chris says. “I’m not sure if this is going to help or hurt you, but each guy has made a personal video. A final plea,” Chris says.

Emily begins to choke up before she watches the videos! And I can’t blame her.

Here are clips of their messages:

“I look forward to being a father to you daughter. I love you and don’t ever forget that.” – Sean Lowe

“I know I’m completely in love with you. Our dates together changed my life forever. You are everything I hoped to find in every single way. I promise I will always do my best to keep your cheeks sore from laughing so much. Together we will watch a thousand sunsets. I love you, Emily.” – Jef Holm

“I looked into your big brown eyes and I knew we were in for a wild ride. My huge crush turn into love when I had that blanket wrapped around us. Then in Prague when I told you I love you I could see so much emotion across your face. Since the beginning it’s been you and me. I don’t think you realize what a beautiful person you are inside and out. I love you so much.” – Arie Luyendyk Jr.

Emily cries, cries and… cries.

“I don’t want to hurt anybody and I don’t want to make the wrong choice,” she says, as she sobs.

And the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Rose time!

The first rose goes to… Jef Holm! And the second rose goes to… Arie Luyendyk Jr.!

As suspected, Sean is left without a rose. Emily walks him out, holding his hand.

“Do you want to sit down?” she asks. “What are you thinking about?”

“I feel stupid to think I’d spend forever with you. I didn’t see this coming. I think you should know it’s going to hurt me,” he says.

Emily begins to sob.

“I wanted it to be you so bad. I’m really going to miss you and I’ve loved every minute,” Emily tells Sean.

“I care about you ultimately , and if this is the best for you, then it’s the best for you,” Sean says.

What a gentleman! PROPS TO SEAN for not pulling a Chris. On the car ride home, Sean reveals he’s totally broken-hearted, but we’re sure with time he’ll be fine.

“Honestly, when she walked out tonight I thought ‘that’s my wife,’” Sean says in the car. “This past week I’ve pictured myself with her and Ricki. I had this beautiful picture… and I feel like it’s been stolen from me. There are a lot of emotions going on right now. I want to love someone with every ounce of my being.”

And we’re sure he will!

Tonight was definitely an emotional episode, I can’t even IMAGINE how next week is going to be.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you surprised Sean went home? Vote and weigh in below.

Watching this show has become painful. Emily sent home a great guy because she seems to be after the man with most money in the bank and not the one who will make her truly happy. She seemed so intent on Sean telling her that he loved her and as hard as it was for him to say, all she could say in reply was thank you for that. I remember the after the rose show from her season with Brad, she complained about being upset having to watch him with the other girls even though he picked her and yet here she is doing the exact same thing. The guys she chooses will see this show and see her kissing every guy she goes on a date with. I am no longer a fan of Emily, she seems a little too disingenuine.

Emily made a huge mistake not picking Sean. The only reason why she never picked him is because his bank account isn’t as large as the others. so sad…

I am really mad that all the Bachelors and Bachelorettes just HAVE to know and EXPECT all the contestants that they “love” them. They need to know what they feel about them. Well, that stinks because they lead these people on and then dump them. Is it for the drama of the show or are they really that selfish and uncaring about other people’s feelings. AND I DO NOT believe that every one of them get down to the finale not knowing who their choice will be. I’m sure that well before the hometown visits, their minds are made up. I do not understand how they can go from one to another kissing everybody…

I have felt, on almost every season of the bachelor and bachelorette that the person to go home when it was down to 3 is normally “the one that got away.” Sean was a good guy, normal, wholesome and it might have worked. The other two are such gambles and I doubt it will last more than a few months.

very true. Sean would have been the perfect husband because not only would he have taken care/loved emily but been a good father to ricki as well.

dude what the f’ is wrong with her?? She keeps reapting on and on that finding the right guy isnt as inportant as finding the right father. Sean is the perfect man and father. Jeff what ever his name is seems so superfical and arie well he doesnt seem the type to committ. Big mistake ashley out of the three the chances of a relation ship lasting longer would of been with sean!!

She is such a fool. Sean was so in love with her and would have been the best Dad to her daughter…his letter to Ricki was so sincere. He couldn’t stop smiling every time he was with her. I hope he is the next Bachelor as he is so ready.

I think this is Emilys biggest mistake letting Sean go..he was the only one that went after her more then once..he may have been slow on telling how he felt but for dang sure showed it each time he ran after her..Ari i think would be a great best friend but she wont be happy with him being gone more then he is home..and would ricky reall get to know him?……Jef great family oriented guy would be a great dad but not too sure he is very sincere i think its all just a popularity thing for him for attention..just my thoughts
