E.L. James shocked fans by saying the sexy couple needs to stay away from the movie — find out why!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart – as well as their Twilight characters Edward and Bella — were the inspiration for Fifty Shades of Grey, but author E.L. James says she doesn’t want them to star in the film version!

E.L., 48, thinks that casting Rob, 26, and K-Stew, 22, would be a disaster, the New York Post reports.

“I think it would be too strange,” she said at a recent UK fan event. “It would just be . . . Ugh, weird!”

That said, E.L. admitted that she has to keep her opinions to herself when it comes to casting.

“[I have] four people in mind” she said. “[But I can't discuss the film], which is a real shame.”

The book is amatuer wannabe sexy and falls short. I am happy and relieved Robert isn’t going to be in the film especially if it’s as boring as the book. The writer knows nothing about real life BDSM and all the little attempts to sound “in the know” are very textbook and entire book lacked heat. Robert Pattinson would have been the only sexy thing about 50. As for Robert not being able to play a rougher character, see him in Bel Ami as a womanizer before you rule say he can only play sweet. Still, I’m happy he is not in it.

While I admit I could picture the entire cast of Twilight as the cast of Fifty (especially “Alice” as Christian’s sister) if they were cast I wouldn’t watch the movies. They just don’t live up to the visuals I had for the main characters.

i agree and disagree . it just 50 – 50 . . Christian Grey is rough and sweet and i don’t think that Rob could do it cause he was to be playing sweet all the way . . Kristen is just nice to play Ana . . but, i’ll be dying to watch them on a big screen again :D love Robsten all the way xx

Robert and Kristen should be cast for fifty shades of grey! i mean come on this lady used Edward and Bella for the original story, so she could at least have Rob and Kris caste’d to repay Stephanie Meyer.
But it also depends on Rob and Kris, but they have said that they have wanted to do another movie together so why not this one?
Besides Rob and Kristen could really pull it off! i cant imagine anyone else playing the role, and also imagine how much bigger the book series and the movie would get if Rob and Kristen played the characters?
if they aren’t caste’d i think Stephanie Meyer should SUE the crazy old witch for using Edward and Bella to make money for herself, no matter what she claims i really hope that this movie doesn’t get produced.

This woman is crazy as a bat. She got rich stealing Stephanie’s characters..Edward and Bella. I have read the first book and don’t plan to read the others for all I could see in the first book were lines and mannerisims used by Rob and Kristen while they were playing Edward and Bella. I can’t understand why Stephanie has not sued her by now. If the movie materializes, then let the actors chosen pull it off as to whether it will be a box office flop or not. She should apologize to Rob and Kristen for saying what she did.

She’s the authour!! Her book, her choice!!! So quit your whiney about how oh it’s going to be bad or how oh they deserve to be in it!!! I’m sick of how people here think that everything is going to suck if Rob and Kristin aren’t doing this or that!!! Well guess what not everything has to have or be about kristen and rob!!! (BTW if you don’t like my opinion I don’t care)

what’s funny is the fact that e.l james thinks that her opinion matters. truth is, now that the studio has purchased the film rights it will be up to them to decide who they will or won’t cast. months back she stated that she wanted no names to star as the leads. but 50 shades doesn’t have the following that hp, twilight or hg has so names are going to be needed to carry the movie.

I’m pretty sure that movie will be softporn if not full blown. They shouldn’t be in it because they are a real-life couple and the public has no right to see them together that way or to that extent ….even though we may want to. They are so beautiful together as Edward & Bella & ther love scenes tastefully done…of course they were so sexy they inspired these stories..But should use unknown actors; maybe even porn stars for Grey & Anastasia.

This is my opinion but I think Rob & Kristen prob did not want to be in another franchise. I love the books. But the author is talking out both sides of her mouth. Originally she wanted them, now she does not want them. If they said they would do it,she would jump on it. Don’t think the movie will much without them. I’m just sayin!

Let’s see, the author (using the term loosely) steals the characters from Twilight and uses the actors’ mannerisms in the books – but thinks it’s “strange…ugh, weird” for them to be discussed for this movie? And she also doesn’t want to allow any 50 Shades fanfiction? She IS crazy as a loon. Hoping that S.Meyer wises up and sues her soon.

I agree.. at the very least SM & Rob & Kristen should get a cut of ever how much ELJ makes off of THEIR work. Sure they don’t need it but could donate to their favorite charity. At least some good would come of it.

Then Charlaine Harris should get a cut from SM’s Twilight books since she basically ripped off the Sookie Stackhouse Collection and sugar coated it and thus Twilight was born.. So on and so forth. End of the day 50 Shades is different enough from Twilight to the point where SM couldn’t pursue action if she wanted.

Twilight had influences, but it definitely was NOT a rip-off. 50 Shades was, and while I don’t think Rob/Kristen should get anything out of it, Meyer can.

She can’t actually ban fanfiction – it’s perfectly legal in the US. She’s just someone who made it and thus just wants to get richer. Whether Rob/Kristen should be cast in the movie is debatable (as in, yes, it could lower their reputations for starring for what would have to be a ‘softporn’ movie b/c of the content), they could pull it off.

they have to use little unknown actors and actresses… It work for the first Star Wars, Twilight, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. These movies did very well with little unknown actors and actresses. I am just saying.
