Katy Perry: You're Courageous, Not A Failure For Revealing Tears Over Marriage In 'Part Of Me' Film

Tue, July 3, 2012 2:45pm EDT by 29 Comments

Katy Perry – your agonizing sobs over Russell Brand ending your marriage are seen and heard in your new docu-film opening July 5th, and your fans’ hearts will break over your broken heart.

Katy Perry you prove you are so much more than some cream puff of a California girl in your riveting behind-the-scenes film, Part of Me. And I can tell you that Russell Brand has to be nuts to have dumped you. You are a brave, beautiful, talented woman who is still nursing a badly broken heart and he is a J-E-R-K!

Katy – your entire movie is gripping, filling your audience in on your childhood growing up with your religious preacher parents to your hard-knocks years trying to make it as a penniless singer/songwriter in LA trying to get a break, to your sheer joy of finally making it and belting out your hits before thousands of your Katy Cat fans, during your year-long concert tour.

But what’s most intense is that Katy, you courageously allowed the cameras to keep filming as your “fairytale” marriage to actor/comedian Russell Brand imploded despite your desperate efforts to keep it afloat.

There’s no doubt that your love for Russell never wavers for one second. The one time he is filmed visiting you during your worldwide tour, you light up with excitement at seeing him.

As total exhaustion from the 124-show tour sets in you still fly thousands of miles around the globe to see him, just for a day or two.

You resolve to not go more than two weeks without “relationship days” and you are devastated when at one point, that stretches to 18 days. You are a woman in love and committed to making your marriage work, no matter what the cost to your health. “I’m fighting to keep my marriage alive,” you admit.

At one point you are so exhausted before a show, you can barely move and beg for 15 minutes more of shut eye.

But it’s the despair over your marriage that’s really sapping your energy.

What planet Russell Brand is on, I can’t tell you, but it sure is a dark and nasty one.

He clearly rarely, if ever, flies to see you , which disturbs your crew, who ask why he isn’t visiting. “He should but he’s not,” you reply, depressed.

When Russell breaks some devastating news to you by text, you can barely contain your tears and sobs. While a 17,000 plus crowd awaits you in Sao Paulo, Brazil, you bravely struggle to pull yourself together to get made up and dressed to go on. Before hitting the stage you break down again in full body sobs.

If Russell, a world away was furious that you, his bride of just over a year, had “abandoned” him, he will now get to see up close, how in love and devoted you still were. That is, if Russell Brand has the guts to go and see his ex-wife on screen.

I hope he sees himself for the giant jacka**s he was and is. Katy, you may have been an ambitious career-woman but Russell should have been proud of you and happy for your incredible success – you had five number one singles off one album, Teenage Dream. And you were the first woman in history to do that.

Instead of supporting you, he was clearly pushing you to have a baby, you weren’t ready for at the age of 27. “I will be a mother when I decide to be a mother, but not right now,” you tell the camera. “A baby can’t have a baby.”

Instead of love, Russell sent you shocking walking papers – filing for divorce on Dec. 30, 2o11.

If you’ve recovered from your broken heart, it doesn’t show in the film. You talk about how you felt like you failed in your marriage, and how you had always believed in the fairytale of romantic love. How you thought that you could only fall in love with a man that would support your career.

But Katy the truth is that you didn’t fail in your marriage – Russell did. And he should have been your Prince Charming encouraging and supporting your success.

He may have shattered your fairytale for now but that doesn’t mean he has to smash it forever, or that he has the power to keep your strong heart pulled apart for good.

No – you need to keep on taking the love and support from your millions of fans, from your best friend sister, Angela, your brother David and your close-knit crew.

Judging from your recent songs, “Part of Me,” and “Wide Awake,” you’re just as hurt now as you were when Russell first flattened your cloud nine, but you will mend.

And you know what, your real true love is still out there, you deserve him and you will find him one day.

In the meantime, your film and heart are an inspiration!

Marrying means starting a family with someone.. wrong?
I don’t think I’d engage into ‘marriage’ without being ready to have a baby.

just saw the commercial for this dumb movie and this website was quoted as saying “the summers best movie”???? are you kidding me? Ted is way better than that movie and theres more movies that are yet to come ala spidey and batman. cummon man! QUIT trying to plug your dumb website and get some legit reporting on movies.
despite reports of her and brand, who cares and let’s get to a real movie with some substance. besides country music has better lyrics and themes behind the synthesisers (sp.) and poppy beats of katy or any other pop-tarts music. kma hollywoodlife. oh btw can’t wait to catch the spam email from your webfriends that buy your adds and spam the crap out of me.

This article is stupid. Do you not realize that she is behind everything in this film? She is the producer so obviously she’s going to make herself look like a victim.

Katy is coragoues! I wouldn’t have been able to do what she did, I would have just broke down and quit. But she kept going for her fans. So anyone dissing her you do what she did, and is still doing. you wouldn’t be able to. it’s so much harder to go through a divorce when your famous.

I think allowing people to see her like that is very courageous. I do believe that Russell simply wasn’t mature enough to make a marriage work. You don’t let your spouse do all the work to keep things going. he should have flown out to see her wether he liked it or not. If you just want a marriage to consist of things you like, then you want a pet. Not a spouse. I completely agree with the article.

bonnie ,this is your own opinion.i guess other people see it differently.being in a relationship for a long time ,i can actually say that it takes two to tango. am a woman ,and i actually feel her pain of lose;but outside that, and as is seen that she really loves her ex,they should have found a way to work things out and if they had done all and it does not work ,then it is time to go which they did.it happened to jane and brad and most other couples we never hear about.i see nothing courageous in making this matter keep extending.she has been pounding her ex since.he behaved badly too,and deserve it in a way,but she has said enough ,it is time to keep somethings private ,as it should be.is her life anyways.

Thats the point. If your spouse isn’t willing to do his part, then you will have to do all the compromising, and NO. Then you CAN NOT make a marriage work. Thats why Katie was smart enough to realize. It still hurts, but if you love someone, but they don’t love you back, you can not do it by yourself.

Katy disrespects herself, her husband and the institution of marriage by exploiting this relationship for all it is worth.

Babies should not have babies and they should not get married. There was much more to the break up than her being away so much and she knows that d@mn well, but she stuck with the view that she thought would get her the most sympathy. Sell it somewhere else lady.

How is this babies having babies? They are a couple in their late twenties/early thirties with steady income. they are not babies. Katie is not disrespecting marriage, just realizing the man she loves, her husband is not willing to put in any effort. Also, she doesn’t wish to have a child. Which makes perfect sense. You don’t marry a woman so you can breed.

Do you have this other story? Not likely or you would say what it is. There is not other story. How does Katy disrespect herself or marriage by filming her break up? that makes no sense to me. If there is more to it then that, tell us what it is or shut it.
And I also don’t understand babies having babies could possibly apply here. She is not ready for a baby. If Russell loved her he would respect that. But he is a spoiled brat who will never have a better kinder person, and he is just too self centered to realize it.

It is not courageous to exploit one’s divorce and apparent ‘broken heart’. Millions of people go through divorce, yet only she has made a film about it.. well about ‘her life’ which everyone knows would fall flat on its face, were it not for her including the divorce in it.

If anyone is courageous it’s Russell, for remaining dignified throughout this whole process. He has not once bad-mouthed Katy, nor used and exploited their situation to make money. Anyone who shares this article’s point of view is incredibly narrow-minded and need to remember the saying “two sides to every story”.

She used her situation and emotions to make a film. I don’t see that as being exploitation unless you are really a very cynical or woman hating person. How is showing your feelings to your public any kind of exploitation? And what in tyhe world makes you think her feelings are fake? That ridiculous. Why do you think you know how she feels? Katy has not once bad mouthed Russell either. She has pointed out facts. Like that he was unwilling to come see her. If your husband was unwilling to fly out to see you, even if you were far more successful would you put up with it?
I think the REAL problem is how much more talented and successful Katy is then Russell. he is probably not willing to come see her because he knows she id doted on by fans and crewand he never is treated like that.

Courageous?? LMAO! Her movie is a publicity stunt to get the public’s sympathy! Without this divorce story her movie would have been nothing! She’s playing the game very well! I’ve watched her movie and I found it way too much one-sided. And in a divorce there are always TWO stories! Russell’s point of view was very well hidden.

What makes you say she hasn’t heard his side of the story. if you follow the show you definitely hear his side. he is the one presenting it. He said he didn’t want to come see her because he didn’t feel special enough. in fact he really wasn’t interested in sacrificing anything to be with her. I thought that was pretty clear. He just wanted her to show up and baby him. I would have left him too. I don’t think he is a jerk. buthe isn’t someone that can be in a serious relationship. he needs to grow up.

Heard his side after HER editing, don’t forget. She produced it and paid for it and had ALL creative control. It’s real easy to make someone look bad with creative editing.
