Savannah Guthrie Today Show Co-Host

Savannah made her first appearance on the ‘Today’ show, in Ann Curry’s former seat, on Friday June 29, but has she officially been named as Ann’s replacement? Find out all the details!

Savannah Guthrie has been reported to be Ann Curry’s replacement on the 7A.M. and 8A.M. hours of the Today show, as co-host with Matt Lauer! Today June 29, we got our first look at Savannah in Ann’s former seat!

While Savannah was spotted in Ann’s former seat on June 29, contracts have not been signed and there has been no confirmation naming Savannah as Ann’s replacement!

According to the New York Times, a transition is expected to quiet — with little fanfare. And an announcement is expected to come on July 9!

Based upon Savannah’s presence in Ann’s former seat on Friday June 29, naming Savannah as her successor seems inevitable! The new report also suggests that producers fear for reactions from Ann’s fans, and that is one reason they are making the co-host transition a quiet one.

“They’re not going to do themselves any good if they blow it out,” said Frank J. Radice, a former NBC executive.

Placing Ann’s upsetting announcement of her departure for the very end of Thursday’s episode, also proved that producers are trying to keep attention on the transition to a minimum!

Frank added that the smartest thing would be “not to draw attention to a change in anchors but to let that change in anchors just happen.”

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you like seeing Savannah in Ann’s former seat?

Loved Ann, can’t stand Matt. WHERE IN THE WORLD IS MATT LAUER, who the F cares! We are sick of him, his arrogance & his smug face sitting next to Ann as she said her goodbyes was enough to make me sick to my stomach. Good bye Today show, hello good morning america.

Both Savannah and Natalie are more personable than Ann. I think they should have shifted people around and moved Ann back to the news desk. I think it is wrong to lay the blame on Ann and look at what the other networks are doing to increase their ratings.

Gosh, first Conan and now Ann! NBC really knows how to treat their employees well!!! Ann needs to go on tour like Conan and it’s a bummer that she still has to work for them!! Go Ann!!!!

Agreed. And lauer is leno… when will they realize part of the reason the ratings suck is that people are sick of him.

Extremely disappointed to hear Ann Curry is leaving her position on the Today Show…or better said…has been asked to leave. For at least 5 years I have been a consistent viewer AND as of today my husband and I will (and have not this morning) no longer watch the Today Show. I feel Ann Curry is articulate, intelligent and truly a great contributor to the Today Show. It will be a big adjustment and loss for my husband and I to now watch the Today show…we will miss Al especially, but feel too strongly that letting go of Ann Curry was and is wrong and a big mistake.
