A family dog named Bear has been named the hero after saving a Michigan toddler from drowning in a family pool.
Patricia Drauch was walking to her garage to get a shovel with her son Stanley but upon reaching her destination she realized her son was gone.
According to the Daily Mail, Patricia, 30, found 14-month-old Stanley floating face up in the family pool. Patricia told officials at this point the boy already appeared blue.
In an amazing turn of events the family’s 4-year-old black Lab, Bear, had jumped into the pool.
Bear then propped the toddler on his back so that he was out of the water.
Patricia then grabbed her son from the dog’s back and tried to call 911 but did not have cell service.
The frantic mother then took the unresponsive boy to the nearest Fire Department about two miles from her home.
As she was driving, Stanley regained consciousness. He was then taken to Three Rivers Health where he was treated and reported to be in good condition.
Cass County Undersheriff Rick Behnke said, “It’s an amazing story. The dog is a lifesaver. That’s all I can say.”

A very beautiful story that didn’t have to happen…that mother needs to do 3 things:
1. Learn CPR
2. Put up a safety gate to keep baby away from pool in the first place.
3. Clean that pool water! The green color is already an alert that mosquitos have a new home….
Yay for doggie!!!
