Yeah his career is really in peril (no the sarcasm), that is why he is attached to like five or six movies at the moment. Someone who’s career is in peril would not be attached to five or six movies that will start production sometime this year or early next year.

Because they released the movie On Demand before the theater release most people already saw it that way. And when you see it On Demand you might pay the price of one ticket, but any number of people can view the movie and you can view the movie as many times as you want in a 24 hours period. So if you wanted, you could have one or two “Bel Ami” parties having all Rob Pattinson Fan Friends over to watch the movie with you at the same time (say 5 to 20 people a time) and only pay $7.99. And if you time it right you can get two or three gatherings in before your time runs out. That’s a HUGE loss of revenue! Not a smart move if you ask me, and it keeps people out of the theater when the picture finally is released because they’ve already seen it more than once, some people three or four times. Seeing it that much and being able to order it on your own TV, why would you bother going out to the theater to see it?

The middle of this cinematographic industry surrounded by much magic, dreams, these emotions may be in your favour or against you, but the base are public relations, so you have to attend to all those that are indispensable to the success or failure of this profession. If one is new in this environment and want to come in, you must pay to the struggle of egos, jealousies, jealousy, conspiracies, and are looking for an agent that will lead us to the horns of the Moon, and that costs, but if we want to achieve these dreams, magic and emotions without sharing the delights of the achieved goals, then simply take out the hand and will fall to the bottom.
Please think about this I trust that you can be corrected.

Bel Ami was barely released in the US and Cosmopolis isn’t being realeased until August 7th I think. We fans need to make sure we see Cosmopolis when it’s released and shut up the powers that be in Hollywood!!!!

I think it’s too soon to say Rob’s career is “in peril.” I went to see WFE and RM and I thought they were good movies. I think Rob needs to do a good movie with a big cast so he’s not the star and the success of the movie doesn’t just depend on him.

hollywood has gone crazy,,,,,,the highest paid actress is talentless and ungrateful. box office hits is not the only basis for popularity. Rob should be complimented for filming and supporting indi films. it only shows that he is not a famewhore like KSTEW

You must be pretty hung up on her. People complain that the media always ties their names together and to Twilight. Here you re, mentioning Kristen when she has nothing to do with this article. Their careers aren’t joined at the hip. Insulting her won’t make him better. (Not saying he’s not good. They’re both good, in my opinion. But it’s pathetic to insult someone to defend someone else..

I think its sort of ironic that this is being posted. Considering you are supposed to support his film. The problem with rob is that his fans still think they are in the same numbers that they where during his twilight hay day. Which just isn’t true- WFE didn’t even top the box office which considering its a big budget film and cost about $100 million just for promotion… not good. Then again Bel ami is an indie movie… it didn’t get general release so there wasn’t much chance in it making any money at all. It was made to be an art film….not to make big bucks exploiting his female fans. Which needs to happen more- he shouldn’t constantly be cast in roles that will please them, just so it makes money….all he will care about is positive reviews on his performance. Which he got from bel ami… how much people spend at the cinema doesn’t pay his wages, nor get him a better career. Fans are irrelevant in a serious actors career, and they don’t pay his wages because he’s been paid much before they’ve had any holding over his earnings. What matters to his career is his own performance. Which was good…so its a success.

WFE’s production budget is 38 million, but “$100 million just for promotion”? Even marketing budget for “Snow White and the Hunstman”, which is a much bigger movie, doesn’t reach $100 million.

“how much people spend at the cinema doesn’t pay his wages”….yes it does. The numbers from the Twilight films help him get a $25 million dollar paycheck.

Let’s agree to disgree. Rob’s career is just fine. What flops has he been in? Well, let’s see: Remeber Me made for 16 mil and made a return of 56 mil in worldwide box office- a nice profit of 20 mill for the Summit studio; WFE made for 38 mil and got a gross of 120 mil worldwide a nice 40 million in profit for Fox. I don’t see any flops here do you? Now, C and BA are arthouse films that are making aboout 10,000 a screen worldwide and that’s a good profit for these films. You failed to mention that these films don’t have a release date for many major citites and are playing in 20 theatres or less.Reviews were so strong for C that Rob has signed for for 3 more films and 2 more still in development. Does this sound like an actor on his way out or on his way up? Sounds like on his way up to me.There are other actors/actreses who should be worried but Rob isn’t one of them.

This is drivel from the Daily Mail, full of inaccuracies. Bel Ami was always a small movie, playing at only 15 theaters nationwide, but douing well OnDemand. Rob got great reviews for his work in Cosmopolis. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but he’s to be commended for trying it. Both David Cronenberg and Woody Allen are big fans, so I don’t think it’s time to call him washed up.

This is the most stupid article you have writen yet on him. Bel Ami, as well as Cosmopolis are indie movies not expected to make big money. Actors do these type of movies to work with particular directors and the experience. They didn’t even promote it properly because American Distributors wanted them to change the ending to something more pleasant which is ridiculous because it is based on a beloved French novel. And, I was really impressed with him. The movie itself was edited really poorly, but he is showing growth as an actor. He has 5 projects coming up. 5. A couple that will bring big exposure. He’ll be fine.

@sarah & cece – face it, studios only care how much money an actor can make for them NOW. They’re not going to wait until RP gets his bearings and find the right director and project for them. Studios will simply find another actor that is talented AND a commercial draw. Show business is that…a business. Money talks.

Also, the fact that Bel Ami opened in 15 theaters in the US shows the lack of faith the studio had in R-Patz’s star power, along with putting it out as on demand.

I’m voicing an opinion here. If you think taking a shot at Lautner (whom I have beaten up myself) is going to change my opinion it won’t. HW cares if you consistently make money for them, period.

Ridiculous article. Rob is just getting started. Once Twilight is over and somebody else becomes the pappz and tabloids daily meal ticket his career will be fine. He is already making good choices in his projects that will attract diverse audiences, and has the eye of good directors. He probably does not want to ever go thru another Twilight-like franchise. The same for Kristen. They probably aim for more low-key interesting projects, and Rob can alternate with his music. Articles like this one is the problem not Rob or Kristen.
