How does one cope with unimaginable loss? In part two of her interview, Madonna says struggles daily with losing her three daughters and parents to the horrific Christmas Day fire. Watch the video below.
It was the inevitable question: How does Madonna cope with losing Lily, 9, twins Sarah and Grace, 7, and her parents Lomer Johnson, 71, and Pauline Johnson, 69?
“A day at a time. Every day I wake up and I have to re-remember,” she told Matt Lauer in her interview that aired on Rock Center with Brian Williams June 21. “Every day I have to go through that day and another day starts. It’s really just one day at a time.”
Matt then asks why throughout the interview she spoke about her daughters and parents in the present tense.
“Because I feel them, they are with me,” she replied. “They are not here physically, but I feel them. My children. My mom and dad.”
