Lamar Odom Olympics 2012

Lamar had a rough season this year, but things may be looking up for the basketball star! Sources close to him tell HollywoodLife.com exclusively that he’s a hot contender for the U.S. Olympic basketball team!

The Lakers traded Lamar Odom to the Dallas Maverick’s in the fall, only to be listed inactive by his new team in April. But taking a break from the team doesn’t mean he took a break from the gym.

Sources close to Lamar tell HollywoodLife.com exclusively that he is in the best shape of his career, but the same can’t be said for the U.S. Olympic basketball team’s lineup, with big-name players like Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), Chris Bosh (Miami Heat), and Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls) suffering from injuries.

“The chances of him making the team are incredible right now,” sources close to Lamar tell HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “Not only because [of] the injuries that have plagued the potential selections, but because he actually is ready for it.”

Anthony Davis, the number one pick for the upcoming NBA draft, is also in the running for the Olympic team, which will be finalized July 7th, but we have our hopes for Lamar.

“Decision makers for the team are excited about Lamar Odom and his conditioning and will be giving him every opportunity to join the team,” our sources say.

Lamar also has the support of his wife Khloe Kardashian. Who wouldn’t love to see reality show cameras follow the couple to the London Olympics this summer?!

lamar not deserving this year

I am very happy that Lamar is getting his game back on track, but given his performance this past season, I do not beleive that he should be given the privilege of representing the US in the Olympics. This honor should go to those that have worked hard this year and have given their respective teams at least 90%.

I’m sure Lamar was working hard, just like all the NBA players, being traded to Dallas took a toll on him and his wife, being away from their family. I agree his performance was very poor, but it was a rough season for him and I’m sure he’s working very hard to turn it around so he can represent the USA this summer. Coach K will pick the “best team” not exactly the best player, but those that work well together…
