Abortion Forced China

Chinese officials have reportedly apologized to Feng Jiamei, who was forced to have an abortion at seven months pregnant because she already had a child.

After leaked photos of Feng Jiamei‘s gruesome abortion sparked international outrage, officials have reportedly apologized.

The apology came after a horrific photo of the Shaanxi province mother lying in a hospital bed next her bloody, aborted child hit the web.

Jiamei, 23, was forced by county officials to have an abortion because she couldn’t pay the $6,320 fine for having a second child, based on rules stipulated by China’s one child policy.

According to Huffington Post UK, China’s National Population and Family Planning Commission has launched an investigation to find the parties responsible. Abortions after the sixth month of pregnancy are prohibited in Chinese law.

Her husband, Deng Jiyuan, said his wife was blindfolded when she signed and “agreed” to undergo induced labour on June 2.
