Taylor Lautner Defends 'Creepy' Relationship With Young Girl In 'Breaking Dawn'

Taylor Lautner

It’s no secret that Jacob’s always wanted to be with Bella, but in ‘Breaking Dawn, Part 2,’ he settles… for her daughter! In a new interview, Taylor opens up about the scandalous romance.

Taylor Lautner admits he’s a little embarrassed about his character’s love affair with the newest addition to the Cullen family, 11-year-old Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), but he insists the super-strong bond between Renesmee and Jacob in Breaking Dawn, Part 2 isn’t as weird as it seems.

“Everyone thinks it’s so funny, and I laugh along with them, but it’s important for me to keep in my mind that it’s as simple as a lifelong bond,” Taylor tells Entertainment Weekly.  “It’s not nearly as creepy as everybody likes to joke.”

Robert Pattinson was one of the first to tease!

“Did you ask him if his taste in women has changed?” Rob asks with a laugh. “The first scene I saw … I literally could not stop laughing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

But despite his co-star’s good-natured joking, Taylor is convinced the concept of imprinting — the process through which werewolves find and meet their soul mates — will be understood by audiences.

More importantly, Taylor is super psyched for Jacob to stop pouting about not being with Bella!

“For me, Part 2 is so great because it”s a completely different side of Jacob that we’ve never seen before,” he says. “He’s always had one goal: to be with Bella. In this one, he’s happy!  The trio was so tense and the triangle is still here, but it’s a completely different relationship between them.”

What do you think of Jacob’s affair with Renesmee, Hollywood Lifers?

Doesnt Bella feel offended or weird that she once loved jacob and then he fell in love with her daughter?

I understand this is Stephenie’s story and why she wrote her story the way she did, but it still really bites what she does to Jacob’s character. I wish she’d just killed him off or something. Anything’s better than attaching him to a demon spawn for no reason. For that matter, knowing how the story ends I wish James had killed Bella back in book 1. It would have saved me the heartache and anguish of reading Breaking Dawn.

You all know that this is fiction right? Taylor has nothing to do with it. He just tries his best to do this in the best way possible and not like others of the cast who just joke about this whole thing. Please live in reality.

Yeah Jacob sucks because he saved Bella’s life not once but three times. He could of just let her jump off the cliff and drown.

Matter of fact if any body that sucks its BELLA herself! Any girl that try hurt herself or sort of trying to commit suicide over a guy seriously needs therapy.

I admire that TL is trying to make the best of it. Even TL had questioned Stephanie Meyer about clarifying “imprinting” and relied heavily on Condon’s advice/direction. Even cast members could do nothing but joke about it since it seems an uncomfortable relationship of man and little girl. IMO the whole book was written too quickly and not thought through like its predecessors. Sadly the movie was dragged out into 2 movies to make extra $$ & All cast were tired of this movie by the end.

It’s more like a big brother feel when Nessie is young then it grows more when she get older like 16 years older. Jake doesn’t age as well so he’s good.

I think if Jacob would have imprinted on Leah this would have been a better way of doing things. Edward and Bella could have had the baby and Jacob would have been moved on from Bella with Leah. Leah/Jake wouldnt have to suffer anymore and Leah would be happy and not pouting all of the time. Plus with the Charlie/Sue/Jake/Leah combo it still would have all been in the family still.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that this is a work of fiction. Fiction, fantasy, make believe, not real life. Actors portray these characters, they do not actually become them. I notice that no one is teasing Taylor about his shape shifting character. No big deal, right? Why focus on the imprinting then?.

Why the focus on the imprint? Because the words “child grooming” and “molestation” are coming to people’s minds when they hear about it. How the results of imprinting have been previously portrayed on screen (kissing and cuddling) isn’t helping either. That’s why you see comments such as “yuck”, “creepy” and “icky” from people when they post on blogs. People who have written articles about the Breaking Dawn 2 plot point have used these words too. Although this is in the book and there’s no sexual contact between Jacob and Reneesme, it still rubs people the wrong way. Stephenie Meyers should have had Jacob imprint on a late teen/young adult woman to avoid this PR mess, IMO.

I mean it’s in the book, so they kinda have to put it in. And it would be really nice to see jacob actually happy in one of the films!:)
