Sure, breastfeeding isn’t for everyone — but was it wrong for Snooki to say ‘it’s kind of like you’re a cow’ in her new interview? HollyMoms, share your thoughts below!
In a new interview, the always outspoken Snooki revealed why she’s “scared” about breastfeeding!
“It’s kind of like you’re a cow and you’re just milking,” Snooki said in a June 11 interview with ABC news.
Snooki, 24, is having her first child, a boy, with fiancé Jionni LaValle.
Embracing motherhood, Snooki has dropped tanning and will be moving into her own house away from the raucous Jersey Shore cast. However, she hasn’t quite warmed up to the idea of breastfeeding.
“I’m just scared,” she continued. “My friend did and she said it was so painful…but I definitely want to pump because it’s the best nutrients for the baby.”
Are you shocked by what Snooki said about breastfeeding, HollyMoms?

While Snooki will need to run to the store at 2am for formula I get to just go straight back asleep with the boob in my son’s mouth because I don’t need to worry about overfeeding or making sure the bottle is at the right temperature.
Clearly, Nicole Polizzi is too brain dead to realize the benefits of breastfeeding her son due to partying too much. I just hope he is born healthy and has no developmental issues due to her partying.

At least she is considering her childs well being by pumping. However, nursing at the breast “like a cow” helps a woman’s body to custom tailor the breast milk based on her childs needs at a particular time. Saliva actually enters the breast and tells moms body what baby needs to have I the milk and the milk is made that way… It’s amazing and only happens from nursing at the breast not pump feeding.
Sure nursing is kind of like being a cow. We are mammals jut like cows and that’s what we are meant to do. However, when we nurse our young it is very different from how dairy cows are milked in factory farms. It’s beautiful and part of a bond unlike any other in life.

Way to go, more ignorant women in the media… if you don’t know, don’t say anything. How about you get educated, ask more people… breast feeding is painful for just a short while, but it is so much better for your baby than formula… and the connection you have with your baby from breast feeding is NOT something you can get from bottle feeding. Sure, there’s some connection, but not equivalent to nursing.

Am I shocked by what she said? No. I’m a breastfeeding educator and I hear this kind of thing all the time. It’s just ignorance. It seems like every woman I encounter has some “friend” who breastfed and told her some horror story about how awful it is. Bad advice and lack of support can certainly make breastfeeding an unhappy experience. The advice I would give her would be that it doesn’t have to be that way. But she needs a reality check about pumping. Exclusive pumping is a LOT of work and not something that would be a wise choice to do if you don’t have to. For some reason first time moms think that pumping is something you can do for a couple of minutes and get a full bottle any time their baby is hungry. They seldom realize that pumping takes a lot of time and effort and many have to spend weeks just building a “stash” of excess milk before they’re able to have any decent length of time not plugged into it. If you’re worried about feeling like a cow being milked pumping exclusively will make you feel that way. Hopefully she will get some helpful information from a caring professional.

What a stupid uneducated woman, breast feeding might not be for you but don’t say such moronic things, how do people even get to think things like that?
Hopefully no one will actually pay attention and be put off breast feeding because of her comments, it’s the most natural thing you can do.
Grow up little girl.

Why does anyone even care about this chick and her having a baby and her obvious stupidity about breast feeding. Why does anyone want to waste their time reading about thinking about, following, etc Snookie’s life. What a waste! What is so great about her, wht substance does she have as a person, how does our lives get any better by paying attention to her except by learning how we should not be as human beings, yes I went there. And I feel sorry for that baby she is having, is he ever going to know the real love of a mother or is he just a trophy or prop for her and her? Stop wasting your time on Snookie oookie and focus on people who are actually doing sopmething of value with their life!!!!!

Snooki of course you are scared it’s your first baby…..breastfeeding isn’t for everyone but pumping is just as good because the baby needs the nutrition what you need to do is find lactation nurse to talk to about breastfeeding and then continue to have her around when you are actually nursing…..This is the only reason we have breast even though men would like us to think other wise.
