Robert Pattinson Admits: I Wanted To Hide Out After ‘Twilight’

Rob reached international superstardom after being cast in ‘Twilight’ but he reveals in a brand new interview it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be — read on to find out why!

Robert Pattinson‘s life may look totally amazing but he gets stressed out just like us! Rob says in a new interview that he has never taken himself “seriously” as an actor and he says something shocking about wanting to hide out for years!

“I never really took myself seriously as an actor before,” Rob says. “Before I did this movie [Cosmopolis] I was fully intending on hiding for a couple of years, but this has really reinvigorated my ideas about acting.”

It sounds like working on Twilight since 2008 was definitely draining for Rob but we’re so happy he stuck around for all the films!

“I wanted to try and do small parts in movies that I thought I could learn something from, just damage control, basically, so I could learn a little bit.”

But he’s signed on to star in several more like Mission Blacklist and we can’t wait — sounds like he won’t get to hide out!

i wonder what summit entertainment thinks about all the bad press he has given twilight i doubt that he will even be at any of the bd 2 premiers and i also do not think he and kristen stewart are together any more rob really needs to get an attitude of gratitude wouldn’t be a millionare without twilght series he is such a whiner he was believable in twilight so yes robert you can act and why did you stay on as edward cullen when you hated it so much and what about all your co stars on the deries did you get all burnt out on them to you really should have quit after the first one if this is what you think

It’s a shame he hasn’t taken himslef seriously as an actor until now because his fans always have. I guess our opinions don’t count for much. Most actors only want recognition from thier piers and critics not their fans. Most of us are aware of that and it’s just how things are. Twilight may have been a living hell for him to live through but it touched our hearts. We fell in love with Edward because Rob made us. Isn’t that the whole point of acting? It used to be but maybe not now. It seems to have become a crime to be a fan of any celebrity anymore. It’s a shame. .

He is on a slippery slope, because critics and his piers don’t buy tickets. They did not make him rich. I hope that he realizes one day the many blessings of Twilight, namely Kristen Stewart. What a shame.

@ Dawn, yes it seems he doesn’t realize or care that we think he is incredibly talented. Totally agree with you about Twilight, I love it and know several others that do as well and it’s too bad he seems so negative about it at times. You should see him in Bel Ami, he is fantastic.

dawn, i believe he is referring to the fact that his lack of self-confidence was what kept him from taking himself seriously…and he knows his fans always have, because he’s said just that, repeatedly…and at all events, public and private, he’s always obliging and generous to his fans, and even brags about us, and tries to get media to understand that his fans are not only young, but rather all ages and backgrounds, that we’re well read, and loyal…and enthusiastic in our support…he is very open about valuing his fans…
as far as critics and peers opinions, it’s only natural that he acknowledge the importance to his career by earning the respect of that group as well..i mean, that’s just common sense.
i loved the truth of your comment: “we fell in love with edward–because rob made us!” now that couldn’t be more true and thank you for including that.
