A friend of Miley Cyrus’ tells us she and Liam often talked about marriage but she did one special thing to plant the idea in his head!

Miley Cyrus has had wedding bells ringing in her head for a while now, a friend of the singer’s confides to us. So how did she get Liam Hemsworth on board? With a little hint!

“Back in March when Miley tweeted that picture of her hand with a ring she was just putting out her intention and hope in the air so to speak,” says our insider. Miley wanted to plant the idea in Liam’s head, as well as express her feelings to her fans. “They really kept things secret so it wouldn’t get out there,” the source explains. “This was a major surprise for almost everyone, only very close family members were told and only shortly before Liam popped the question.”

So how did the subject of marriage start coming up? “Liam and Miley are very close obviously and they are very close with Liam’s brother Chris and his wife. Once they saw Chris and his wife handling the recent pregnancy it kicked things into overdrive,” reveals Miley’s friend. “Miley really wants marriage, kids, and a family life… the whole thing. Liam feels the same way after seeing how well it is going with his brother.”
