It’s hard to believe that this is the second season of The Glee Project. I’m willing to forgive Oxygen for shelving this guilty pleasure in the 10 o’clock hour, but only because this year’s cast is so incredibly hot with talent! There already seems to be a number of frontrunners — including blonde hair, blue-eyed Shanna, whom Lea Michele took a liking to, naming her the first homework assignment winner — as contestants showed off their individuality via a performance of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”
While the contestants all warmed up to the rigors of signing in a recording studio, shooting a music video to White Snake’s “Here I Go Again,” and rehearsing endless hours of choreography, personalities shifted, leaving early fan faves in the bottom three this week.
It’s hard to judge who will come out on top solely based on the first episode. The contestants seem to still be in a frenzy and still trying to become best friends with their fellow competitors. That phase will pass — hopefully sooner rather than later!
I must note that Shanna did, however, win both the homework assignment and best performance for the episode’s music video. There’s a clear target on her back now as the other contestants watched Shanna ice there chances at being an early standout.
(Yes, we saw the side-eye, Lily Mae. And don’t fret, we’re rooting for you too!)
Left in the bottom three were Aylin (the flirt), Maxfield (the country crooner), and Tyler (the transgender) as they battled for survival in front of Ryan. Aylin managed to flirt her way through to next week, and Tyler is just too damn interesting to let go — for now — which meant Maxfield did not earn the callback.
We wish we could say we were more sad, but it is the first week, and we hardly had enough time to know you!
Until next week, sound off! What did YOU think of the season premiere, HollywoodLifers?
