An Arizona mother drove off with her 5-week-old baby still strapped onto the roof of her car. The mother, who was reportedly high at the time, was arrested and charged with a DUI and child abuse.
Catalina Clouser had put her baby on top of her car in his car seat and drove away, forgetting that he was still there. She did not even notice when the seat fell off the roof and landed in an intersection!
Luckily, the baby was not harmed. Neighbors had found him on the road, still safely strapped to his seat.
The 19-year-old Phoenix-based mother was smoking marijuana at the time and police say it caused her appalling negligence.
“We believe that whatever she was under the influence of was the deciding factor in what did happen to this child and we’re extremely happy that for the baby this turned out well and the baby is going to be OK,” Officer James Holmes of the Phoenix Police Depart said in a ABC News report.
The baby is now with Child Protective Services.
