Drumroll please — the 20-year-old cellist from Rhode Island was crowned as Miss USA! Do you think she was the right choice?
Miss Rhode Island, Olivia Culpo, is the new Miss USA 2012! The gorgeous beauty beat out 51 beauty queens on June 3 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Perhaps it was her purple bikini that won her the title?
Olivia was asked if it would it be fair for a person born a man to be named Miss Universe after becoming a woman?
“I do think that would be fair,” she said. “But I could understand how people could be apprehensive to take that road.”
The judge’s panel included chef Cat Cora, TV personality Arsenio Hall, singer Joe Jonas and reality TV star Rob Kardashian. Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic were on hand as the hosts of the evening.
Olivia will spend her reigning year to raise awareness for breast and ovarian cancer.
