Alanis says she’ll continue to breastfeed her son Ever until he’s ready to stop! Vote — is that strange to you?
Time magazine’s cover mom, Airforce mothers, and now singer Alanis Morissette is joining the er, titillating breastfeeding-controversy debate! The singer recently said that she’s prepared to breastfeed her son Ever until he’s 5 or 6 years-old!
“Some kids naturally stop at two, some stop at a couple of years later, it’s up to the child. I will stop when he says it’s time to stop,” the singer, 37, said to Good Morning America on May 31.
Alanis, mom to 17-month-old Ever, talked about the effect of the infamous Time magazine breastfeeding cover and being an attachment parent.
“For me, I protect his safety and his well-being and his attachment,” she said. “That stage of development is a very important stage.”
Alanis likes to keep Ever with her as much as possible — as much “skin-on-skin contact” via snuggling and sleeping next to him and even building a studio in her own home to mame sure she is always “available” to him.
As for the Time magazine cover, Alanis said that all families are different: ”I consider it appropriate, it is appropriate for that particular child and that particular family.”
