As Emily Maynard gets to know the men trying to win her heart, she has the sad realization some of them are not happy she’s a mom!

Emily Maynard is a blonde southern bombshell, who you’d think have no trouble finding love. However, what she considers to be the love of her life — her daughter, Ricki — the men who are courting her on The Bachelorette think of as baggage. Talk about awkward!

“I don’t have a lot of experience with kids. You’ve got to teach me,” Alessandro tells Emily, explaining that fathering Ricki, 6, would be a “compromise.”

“You see that as a compromise and not an honor?” Emily asks, indignantly. “Me having a daughter isn’t a compromise and anybody I spend the rest of my life with is going to see that as the biggest bonus ever.”

very very sad. these men are scared out of their boots. they didnt really realize what they really signed up for. im sure they want to run for the hills right now. i know i would. i would sneek out the window and go back home by now. looks arent everything and these girl is really really boring. its all about her daughter. i dont think she will ever find love with that attitude.

I’m sorry, Emily. You’re probably not going to find a good, honest man on a reality show. You seem like a good, kind-hearted woman who loves her daughter dearly. I wish you the best in life. I know what it is like to feel lonely and to want a good companion by my side. I hope that GOD blesses you and brings a great, faithful man into your life who loves your daughter as much as you do.

i have a cousin who found a good hearted man in a similar situation (well, not on reality tv!). the guy didn’t want children of his own, and she had already had the only one she cared to have, and it worked out perfectly. i think he was happy and in love with this little girl, but was happy not to have to deal with an infant. in any case, it can work out… i hope it does for her.
