Fantasia Barrino Vs. Chaka Khan: 'American Idol' Catsuit Battle

The ‘American Idol’ finale was more than just about crowning a winner on May 23 it was a catsuit battle, and HollywoodLife.com has the details and wants YOUR vote!

Fans weren’t only focused on who would win American Idol during the show, they were debating who wore the better skin-tight catsuit! Twitter caught fire when season three winner Fantasia Barrino showed up in a super tight leg baring get up and then Chaka Khan wore a curve hugging brown bodysuit — MEOW!

Fantasia was there to sing with Joshua Ledet and fans say that she was even making up lyrics to Elton John‘s “Take Me To The Pilot.”

But it appears dressing like cat woman is trendy these days because when Chaka showed up to sing the hit “I’m Every Woman,” she was in the tightest sequined getup ever on American Idol!

Then she caused another stir on the red carpet when she said she’d love to take J.Lo’s spot if she doesn’t return to American Idol: “They could use a little bit of truth, honesty. I’d like that.”

The worst performances were Fantasia and Chaka. Fantasia didn’t sing – she just screamed and it was horrible. Chaka was not very good singing either. Both of them looked terrible in those tight catsuits. What were they thinking? What was Anerican Idol thinking letting them come on the show when they can’t sing nor look decent in their stage outfits. Ick!

If anyonebody at Fox loved fantasia they should have stopped her representing herself in this manner. Where is her mama, stylist, Nigel, her daughter, anybody. I would like to change her entire wardrobe, I would do it for free if she would let me. Shaka Khan except for those pampers she was wearing, did not look bad, she just needed the right spanks.. spanks people need to call her and advise her which spanks works with type of outfit. Had Shaka Khan kept the Jacket on it would have been not too bad but aparently she forgot what she was working with because of the excitement and oh my. she still looked good at her age but its a NO NO

Not only did they look awful they sounded awful, too. You call that singing??!!! Nothing but a bunch of tribal screaming!!! I turned the channel because it was hurting my ears! It was worse than terrible. It was HORRIBLE!!!!!

i’ll have to agree on the singing part. fantasia just screamed the whole time… it was tiresome. chaka was, well, i don’t want to bust on a 60-something woman… she can’t sing and perform/dance at the same time… or sing and walk down stairs in heels at the same time… i’m okay with that. she’s paid her dues. i considered her appearance more of a “cameo” where the background/taped stuff was doing most of the work and she just had to get a few words out here and there and look fabulous. i appreciated her performance, even if the singing wasn’t so much there…

Currently 80% think Chaka looked better than Tashia! Chaka will be 60 next year! Apples to apples how does your grandmother stack up?

Fantasia should have glanced in the mirror before leaving the store in that outfit. She looked like a HOT mess. She needs to learn that just becomes something comes in your size does not mean you should wear it. She looked down right nasty, like a sausage about to pop out of its casing.

Fantasia looked alright. It amazes me that Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj can walk out on stage in the most ridiculous costumes but if a woman that’s not a size 2, like Fantasia, dares to wear a sequin catsuit everybody is in an uproar.

Fantasia has body. And unlike Minaj it isn’t a silicone created injected body. It’s a natural southern cornbread and collard green body and she looked better in that catsuit than most of the hateful women on the internet typing their mean comments would look.

Werk Fantaisia. And congrats to Ms. Chaka Khan on her weightloss. She looking like the brickhouse Chaka from the 70s again. Fierce!

What you have to realize is that for Gaga and Nikki the costumes are a part of their superstar personna. Because Nikki Minaj and Lady Gaga are simply on stage characters created by those artist. When they are not working they are no longer Nikk Minaj and Lady Gaga to the people that know them. But Fantasia….there is no gimmick. Fantasia is who she is on stage and real life so what she does on stage is a reflection of who she is and how she carries herself. The girl flat out needs guidance. Its not the fact that she is plus sized, its the fact that she is clearly neglecting to take care of herself and her career. Its self destruction.. You didnt see Beyonce let herself go.. she had that baby and worked hard to maintain her image and career. Thats what it takes in this industry and all artist know that. Fantasia simply does not take pride in herself and it shows.

i don’t think anyone that would wear a skintight sequin outfit with thigh high cut outs along the sides is not taking pride in themselves. if you want to see, not taking pride- google around at some kelly clarkson photos. fantasia is just fine, and i admire that she doesn’t let the skinny-obsessed public dictate her fashion. her fans, and she has plenty, probably love that about her… but it’s okay if you don’t get that. i’m just saying that your ideas aren’t necessarily the only ones—- but, from what i have heard, the girl for sure does need guidance in other ways! but, with her weight and style, i actually kind of admire her for doing her own thing.

It is not about being a size two its about wearing clothes that flatter your body. Curves on a woman is very attractive. I don’t expect her to come down to a size two I mean she just had a baby a few months ago. You can show your body, that is fine but the clothes must accentuate the posistives. No one can honestly say that what she wore did that.

@comeon people, you are so right! I totally agree with you. I’ve been disappointed with Fantasia since she won on American Idol. It’s disturbing because when she was on American Idol competing as a contestant, she sang beautifully. After winning, she shows up on all these appearances looking and sounding absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know what she’s doing with her money, but she obviously needs to hire a trainer, a stylist, a vocal coach, and a publicist. Clearly she can’t take care of these areas on her own.

sarah, i 100% agree with you. i’m sick of everyone thinking the only ones that should show their bodies are the size 0 chicks- and the rest of the world should wear potato sacks to hide as much as possible. yah, my first reaction was to poke fun… but actually, i think they both looked good, and i admire women who are so comfortable with their natural bodies!!!! good for them…
