After his final performance on ‘American Idol’ last night, Phillip Phillips played down the worry that he might have to miss tour dates due to his kidney problems. Do you think he’s being realistic?
We all know that once the winner is crowned tonight on American Idol, the contestant’s lives hardly have a moment to calm down. With a looming summer tour, both Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez have a long, exciting road ahead of them. But might that road be cut short for Phillip, even if he takes the title?
As you know, the 21-year-old crooner has been battling serious kidney problems all season long. But his commitment to the show has never wavered, with Phillip going so far as to delay a necessary surgery until after tonight’s festivities. Our concern, though, now shifts to Phillip’s recovery time, and whether it will affect his ability to tour.

HollywoodLife.com has the chance to talk with Phillip after last night’s show, asking him directly if he was worried about having to miss any tour dates. The heartthrob answered, “No, no, no. I am excited for the tour.”
We’re excited for the tour, too, and we certainly hope Phillip is able to participate in all of it.
