After nearly a dozen performances, Rihanna’s hit single and a live proposal, the ‘American Idol’ winner was finally named! Are YOU happy with who won?
And then there were two… Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips were the final American Idol contestants of the season — and after a two hour finale filled with non-stop talent, a season 11 was FINALLY named.
Ryan Seacrest broke the news that Phillip was the official winner and the crowd went wild. (We called it!) The 21-year-old Georgia native couldn’t say a word and just started singing his new single. However, half way through he started tearing up and started hugging his family and the judges. We’re so happy for him!
Well, folks — that’s a wrap with season 11. Are YOU happy with the results?

come on now fellow kababayans! let’s all stop this non sense comments about racial issues! We shouldn’t bring this up everytime we get defeated! if Jessica lost ,it was that Phillip P got the highest votes than her. Both deserves to win! Both are talented and unique! Majority of Americans chose who their idol was and we should respect that! it’s irritating when Filipinos or other race has to bring “racial issues” which makes us look really fool! spread the love instead! we all know Jessica has this amazing talent and she will sure have the spot to be BIG in entertainment industry. Thanks to America for giving her the chance to show to the world how amazing her voice was by sctually putting her to American idol show and when judges saved her when she was voted off! remember that guys???? Peace to all!

Agree, but there is no such thing as nonsense comment. Its how the show will take this. No change will happen if people keep on agreeing and wont voice their opinion good or bad. Everyone is entitled to be heard. So let them be. People are angry for reasons. Maybe they have not voice it out the way everyone likes it. But it is still an opinion

Phillip P did NOT get the most votes. It is ironic that American Idol forums as well as “Other” forums, deleted the posts that I made with EVIDENCE that the voting polls were rigged, and inaccurate, the links of 15 major public voting poll sites that had/have Jessica winning by a landslide and the link to a website where a book has been writting that proves that AT&T helped Kris Allen win season 8 by hosting numerous parties giving out free cell phones to Kris Allen fans and teaching them how to “power text” in which AT&T even apologized for hosting the parties. If American Idol is confident in it’s results, then why does AI and all of its constituents continue to remove information that demonstrates there is suspicious activity in the voting process?

the reason you never get the real winner is because everyone gets to vote as many times as they want from people that dont know a thing about vocal talent and and just vote on OH HES SO CUTE kinda stuff wich i must say is so funny cause this guy is just very average looking .. wich brings up another fact guys dont sit around voting all night ..sooo thats why you have boy winners every year ..not fair at all . there has to be a better way to vote like one vote per call hmm i bet phillips wouldnt have won .. he cant hold a candle to jessica singing ..and remember this is a singing contest not a getar contest .american idol better change its ways soon . there are much better singing talent shows out there

im amazed with the number of rage ive been seeing about Jessica should have won the contest. And I believe shes the winner. Sad that the show was aired worldwide but not all was allowed to vote. Cause I really believe if they allowed it the true winner will prevail and that is Jessica.
Oh well the show is called American Idol… Not a naturalied American Idol. Godbless Jessica.

Wow at all the discrimination remarks…. did you forget that both Jessica and Joshua had made it to the top THREE?! But oh, now it’s discrimination because they didn’t win the whole thing. America voted those two into the top three, so I don’t see how it’s discrimation when they made it that far to begin with. People pulling that card are just making themselves look bad. It makes it look as though you are the ones discriminating against the white guy. It’s always “discrimination” if you are not white, but white people are discriminated against all the time too. It goes BOTH ways!
I’m glad Phillip won… and yes I voted for 4 hours for him… and no it is not because he is white. I liked his singing better, It’s my own musical taste. I also thought he was the better one and thought that he deserved to win.
Oh, and I’m 33 years old, married with two kids… not a teeny bopper in pink pajamas (who btw, majority probably were not up until midnight on the phone voting in the middle of a school week).

“and yes I voted for 4 hours for him”
and you are 33? get a life.
“I liked his singing better, It’s my own musical taste.”
then you are tone deaf.
“I also thought he was the better one and thought that he deserved to win”
jealous of young 16 y/o singers much?
“majority probably were not up until midnight on the phone voting in the middle of a school week”
you get that from Gallop?
Although Phillip won, it is the show that lost the most credibility.

i can’t read jessica’s fan comments here… too annoying. but, i will say that i have been cheering for her all season. for her final competition, she did a series of safe songs and veered away from her “urban” singing where she shines the most. she herself agreed with the judges that her finale song was not her, and that her record would be more urban. so why did she try to play the audience? it may have been her only choice against phillip’s mainstream voters. but, in any case, phillip outperformed her on the final night- and he deserved to win. sure, jessica’s voice is much better, but she gave three relatively bland performances on what people will tout as the most important night of her life (i disagree- the girl is gonna go on to do GREAT things). for that, she deserved to come in behind phillip. he had a great night. but, she’s going to do great, and she’ll probably be the first idol in 11 seasons whose albums i will actually seek out and buy. that performance with holliday was the most moving thing i have seen in a long time. but also, it made me pissed off at her for not giving us more of that during the season, and particularly in the finale!!! in any case, she’s great, will do great, but she didn’t deserve to win b/c she played it safe instead of daring to show us what she did last night. that’s okay. but, you know, her fans should appreciate that… i do, at least.

to gbtw, you said that jessica’s performance is bland, if that is the case, what do you call phillips’ performance? I know that deep in your heart, you believe he doesn’t deserve it as far as talent is concern. He won because he has too or else it is going to be a big insult on your part, t

There’s nothing special or phenomenal about Philip Philips! Jessica is the WORLD IDOL! after this contest Philip Phillips will just be Known as the guy who just won the AI not the guy who has extraordinary singing talent that’s why he won American idol..said result was so disappointing and obviously favored

Phillip won because we all liked him , and I know I voted 100 times for him, and online too and I am 43, not a teeny bopper- as well as my friends and sisters who are the same age… Jessica can sing, no doubt, and she will have a contract.. but we loved Phillip!!! He won because he got more votes!!!

Philip won because all the little girlies in their pink footie pajamas banded together and voted for the contestant who made their little hearts go flutter flutter every night before mommy tucked them in and they went beddy-by. Jessica, as much as I love her, shouldn’t have even been in the top 2 because ‘technically’ she’d already been voted off weeks ago. Which means the top 2 should’ve been Philip and Joshua, and I can’t believe Philip prevailed over that powerhouse. If that’s the case, maybe ‘I’ even have a chance on Idol? – but first I guess I’d need to grow some scruffy facial hair to attract the pink pajama girlies, huh? Granted, he didn’t do too bad when he sang melody (he sucked otherwise), but it seems that the only time he chose to sing a song with any melody whatsoever was when he was forced to. Personally, I lost interest in Idol once Hollie and Joshua were voted off. Elise and Skylar too. Now THEY could sing.

we’re not degrading phil, just the people who voted for him. lady above, 43 yrs old. voted 100 times? really?!
my local karaoke bar has better singers. judges are totally to blame, they should have ousted him early. they couldn’t stop the momentum once he went thru. To save face, of course they have to say they love him in the end.
PP out of tune half the time. So ya, maybe I am degrading him.

There is something with american idol, Joshua eliminated from the contest instead of Philip and it surprised people, since Jennifer commented Jessica that she growls when she sings, then she tried to change her style not to growl. That really affected to her. Besides, america did not want her to win because she has a Filipino blood because her mom is from Philippines. The other reason that she voted off because American Idol chosen the song to sing from her Album which did not fit and match to her voice. America is not fair… American people they are not fair. Let us see, what will happen, Jessica will be more popular than Philip because Philips is nothing compare to Jessica. He won because america voted him to win, but he doesn’t deserve at all…

Stuart I am saddened by your comments. Perhaps they are true? The thing is, as long as these questions continue to be asked. It’s kind of a reverse discrimination. Don’t you see that as long as it’s in vogue to be against white guys with guitars that’s just as discriminatory as not wanting Jessica to win because she happens to be Filipino and Hispanic. I look forward to the day when Jessica for Philip can be judged strictly by their talent and it does not matter whether 5 guys for no guys one in past years I hope I live long enough the gender and colorblind. Your observations, however, are real and heartfelt. We must stop turning on one another. When the power of love is stronger than the love of power the world will be a Better Pl., Phillips favorite quote from Jimi Hendrix.

Umm, I hate to tell you, but the majority believes that Phillip should have won, which is why he did. Jessica has an amazing voice but, although she has absolutely grown in an understanding of her singing during the show (e.g., don’t do so much vibrato all the time…which she did early on), she has been inconsistent. Only because she is still figuring it out. She already is amazing but is still growing into herself. Meanwhile, Phillip knows himself as an artist, and people love what he is. Congrats Phillip. And all the best int he future for you both.

Thank God, a rational voice in the wilderness. For a minute I thought I was the only person that did not have a conspiracy theory over who should have won And who did win. We don’t need to trash Jessica truly she is an outstanding voice, perhaps a future Whitney? I could not agree more, Philip brings that intangible complete package that Idol dates for every year. Make it your own. He is a complete artist, a writer, a musician, a singer, and he has a C stamped on his 4 head for cool! What a great year. There are no losers. We are so lucky to have such a talented generation of young people. I am humbled by their level of talent as artists, and as human beings serving our country in the military. I am proud to be an American and I love that the rest of the world watches us. Bated breath while we produce the greatest talents on earth. I digress, loved your remarks and measured response. Thank you

I’m not happy of American Idol Season 11 result.Jessica Sanchez must the one get the title, she deserve to get the title, but suddenly in just a minutes they announced Philip is the winner of American Idol season 11.
Discrimination….
Why they not let any asian, african or non american win.
Maybe by next season of american idol this will not happened again…
To Jessica Sanchez in our HEART you are the winner….

Why does race have to be brought into this? You have to like Whitney Houston to like Jessica. I prefer the style of Phillip, which is similar to John Fogarty or Bob Seeger. That doesn’t make me a racist, that is ridiculous, and obviously that is why he won.Plus, Jordan Sparks Dad is African American and she won a few years back.

Please explain to me how popular vote is discriminatory? Do you really believe the contest should be rigged so Jessica can win because she’s a minority and a female? I am so sick of conspiracy theories. These theories are developed and metastasize into an uneducated, ignorant repressive environment. It’s popular vote deal with it! Look up discrimination in the dictionary! As long as we hide behind conspiracy theories and reverse discrimination. We will never truly rise above the hatred and ignorance. Above all, never use words not know the meaning of it makes you look stupid.

How in the world did Phillip x 2 win! Last time I tuned in to idol was when Taylor Hicks beat out Katherine Mcfee. I said the same thing then….How in the world! Bottom line is I felt Jessica should have won without a doubt. At age 16 she has a phenomenal voice one of the best that I’ve heard on idol. Overall finale rigged!
