Katy appears on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on May 22 and reveals that in her upcoming 3D flick about her life, she’ll show fans what she went through when Russell filed for divorce.

Katy Perry wants to show you how she overcame such a difficult time in her life. The singer tells Ellen DeGeneres that it’s important for her to show her fans that her life isn’t perfect and that she has had heartbreak like everyone else.

“I thought it was important for me [to show the divorce],” she says. “First of all, I thought it was important to show everything in between. I think sometimes people think that we’re perfect and we know we’re not perfect, at all. I think it’s important start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world.”

But she says you’re not going to see her bashing her ex: “So that’s why I decided to put everything into the film. In the most tasteful way. But mostly it’s about how I go there and the ride along the way which can be bumpy but mostly it was extremely fun.”

Katy’s movie Part of Me comes out Fourth of July weekend.
