Viewers did a double take when American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson stepped out onto the stage at the Billboard Music Awards on May 20! The 30-year-old pop star showed off her slimmed-down figure in a stunning pink gown with a plunging neckline that left little to the imagination.
“Kelly looks to have lost about 40 pounds,” Alicia Hunter, weight expert and author of The Accidental Diet: From Fugly to Fox tells HollywoodLife.com. “Her arms are a far, slimmed-down cry from her earlier picture and her face looks more defined too! She’s also shed several inches from her waist.”
Since winning Idol, Kelly’s weight has gone up and down, but it seems the brunette beauty has finally found a diet and exercise regimen that works for her.
“Kelly probably enlisted a nutritionist or dietician to help her plan out a healthy eating style which undoubtedly included large portions of nutrient-dense veggies like leafy-greens, green beans, eggplant and lots of fruits like berries and melon,” Alicia reveals. ”The dramatic difference in her arms and waistline could only have come from losing a lot of actual body fat, which needs to happen not only through a low-calorie meal plan, but also cardio.”
While lifting weights is a good way to tone, women with a classic pear-shape like Kelly need to be mindful of building too much muscle 0r else they could end up looking stocky, Alicia notes.
Kelly’s new reality-competition series, Duets, will debut on ABC on May 24, with co-hosts Robin Thick, Lionel Richie and Jennifer Nettles.
