The Bachelorette Emily Maynard

Hearts have already been broken during the second week of the ‘Bachelorette’ — but the boy-drama and adorable proposal totally made up for the tearful goodbyes!

The Bachelorette began with the arrival of the first date card which was addressed to Ryan — the cutie who woo-ed Emily Maynard with a handwritten “you are beautiful” note.

Of course, this doesn’t sit well with the other guys — especially Kalon McMahon who accurately described the Bachelorette experience as “a frat house from hell on steroids” thus far.

But clearly Ryan swept her off her feet because she was definitely nervous/excited about seeing him. However, this date was a little different from the usual Bachelor champagne-drinking helicopter rides that have occurred on past seasons. Emily was in charge of soccer practice snacks for the day and Ryan’s date join in on the fun. The two baked cookies together for Ricki’s snack which was definitely not what Ryan was expecting. Luckily, he was a good sport.

“This is what life could be like if I was part of her life,” Ryan said with a smile on his face.

Once Ryan passed “the cookie test” the two drove to soccer practice to deliver the cookies, but Emily understandably kept Ryan in the car. She isn’t going to introduce her six-year-old Ricki to anybody just yet.

“I’m not really ready for her to meet everybody just yet,” Emily told Ryan.

And Ryan didn’t take offense at all.

“I respect the fact that she asked me to stay in the car,” he said.

After playing house, Emily was ready to clean up and go on a real  date. She put on a little red dress, gave the keys of her Bentley to Ryan, and took him to the swanky restaurant Osso in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Emily wasn’t scared to grill Ryan starting with questions about his past. Ryan revealed that he’s had two ex-girlfriends “that really mattered,” but hasn’t found anything worth settling down yet for.

“My biggest fear going through this is that people will see it as a game. You either fall in love or you don’t,” she said.

While Ryan agreed, he went on to admit that he’s really looking for a cat and mouse chase. Call me crazy, but I don’t think Emily has time for games right now, even though she said she’ll give him a chase if that’s what he wants. Hmm!

The night ended with Emily giving Ryan a rose making him safe for the Final Rose Ceremony.

Day 2

The next day Emily invited 13 of the guys on a group date. But again, it wasn’t anything extravagant. Emily rounded up the troops to help her perform a play with The Muppets to raise money for the Ricky Hendrick Centers for Intensive Care at The Levine Children’s Hospital.

However for Charlie, this didn’t sit well. Charlie is still recovering from an accident which has caused him to have speech issues so understandably, Charlie was nervous to participate. Emily sat down with Charlie who explained the situation to her and of course, Emily was so sweet about it and the show eventually went on.

The boys performed with The Muppets and even one special gent was forced to display his romantic skills on the spot!

Skater boy Jef Holm was asked to propose to Miss Piggy — and it was the cutest proposal ever! Could this be foreshadowing what we’ll see at the end of the season? I hope so. Jef is definitely a keeper!

After Emily shared a passionate kiss with …. Kermit the Frog — on stage — and then the boys and Emily were on their way back to the house.

Back at the mansion, Emily chatted with Chris Bukowski — a Chicago native — where she complimented his good looks.

And finally she got some alone time with Jef Holm where she revealed that she was confused about how he felt about her. Jef assured her that he’s interested, but said it’s just “hard” and “weird” having to compete for her attention with the other guys. (Welcome to the Bachelorette, Jef!).

The Utah-native definitely doesn’t strike me as the competitive type — which is just one of the many enduring qualities about him and which is why he received a rose on their first group date.

Good pick, Em!

Day 3

Day 3 was Joe’s day. Emily surprised him with a red carpet and private jet. Now THIS is the kind of the Bachelorette adventure we all know and love!

Emily and Joe flew to her hometown White Sulphur Springs, West Virgina, where they spent the day at the fancy Green Brier Resort. The two went swimming and had a romantic dinner where they wrote down their wishes about love and put them in the mystical Love Clock.

Even though Emily was enjoying herself there was clearly something missing: the spark.

“Joe is such a sweet guy, but I just don’t feel the butterflies,” she told the cameras.

As much as Emily tried, she didn’t feel any chemistry with him and decided not to give him a rose. Emily cried, but it didn’t make his exit any less awkward. Poor Joe…

The Final Rose Ceremony

Since Joe was sent home on his first date with Emily, only two more men were left for Emily to say goodbye to.  And drum roll, please…

Aaron, the biology teacher, and Kyle, the financial advisor — just as earlier reported — were sent home.

Let’s recap on what we‘ve learned from tonight’s episode:

• The only way Ryan can win Emily’s heart is if she totally makes him work for it
• Kalon has Louis Vuitton luggage
• Tony has a kid — makes him cuter for some strange reason
• Doug is understandably very serious about being a father and not meshing with the other men — we still really like him though
• Jef is shy which makes him that much cuter — #TeamJef !!
• Joe, Aaron and Kyle went home and 14 guys remain

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Were you shocked that the final rose went to Stevie? Are you surprised Kalon is still in the running? Weigh in below.
