Phillip Phillips Refuses Kidney Surgery For 'American Idol'

Phillip Phillips Kidney Surgery

Even though his doctors are demanding he undergo operations for his severe kidney problems, Phillip Phillips is putting the ‘American Idol’ finale first and foremost. Do you think it’s the right decision?

As much as Phillip Phillips steers clear of mainstream music and acts nonchalant about competing on American Idol, the reality show means the world to him. Case in point: he refuses to treat his serious kidney problems until after the finale next week.

Last week during hometown visits, the 21-year-old singer’s doctor never left his side and was incredibly concerned by Phillip’s lack of appetite and pasty complexion, reports TMZ.

Phillip Phillips’ Sick Kidneys Won’t Keep Him Off ‘American Idol’ Tour 2012 — Show Must Go On

“Phillip said he was not going to drop out of the show so the doctor told him he ABSOLUTELY had to go under the knife immediately after the finale,” the story says.

HollywoodLife.com has had the pleasure of catching up with Phillip on a weekly basis — usually on Tuesdays during his rehearsals — and the intense Idol  schedule has clearly taken a toll on him.

He’s said he’s hanging in there and ready to compete, but spends every spare minute he can resting in his room by himself. Clearly, Phillip is a great sport and wants to go all the way — and we hope his health doesn’t keep him from winning the prize.

If you were in Phillip’s situation would you sacrifice Idol for the knife, or would you stay focused and barrel on through — even if you felt horribly?

Is he somewhat black? Look how his nose flares out at the bottom. It doesn’t really matter, I’m just curious. There are handsome white men and handsome black men. Phillip is handsome.

I am a Filipina , but i surely support Philips because Jessica is something very usual. A good singer, but she can have more new doors in the future. Go Philips!

Firstly,

It’s not appropriate for any medical practitioner to comment on a patient’s condition. So there have been severe violation by exposing Phillip’s medical condition to the public. It’s none of our damned business. I worked with renal patients for over a decade. I didn’t go out touting that so and so was on dialysis or had kidney disease. Most people don’t even know what kidney disease is, anyway. And for a doctor to make a comment that Phillip needs to go under a knife immediately after the finals is pure fraud.

The physician is doing nothing but drawing attention to himself. That’s it, that is what he is doing. Phillip can determine what he needs to do. I, for one, would go see another doctor. I think it all boils down to a bunch of egregious reporters that don’t know a damned thing about kidneys or any other organ in the body.

Peace,

Mark

His condition was make public weeks ago on the show, it been out their for sometime. Don’t blame his Hometown Doctor for making a comment he would know him better than anyone of us. He knows he has a kidney condition so why would he need to see another Doctor? Fraud? and why does it all boil down to a bunch of egregious reporters that don’t know anything about kidneys or other organ in the body. Eighteen months ago @ 58 years had my left kidney removed, I was up & walking two days later, home a week later & felt like a new person. To know the pain of a kidney condition you have to have been been through it. At his age & he looks to be fit I think he would recover in no time. I wish him the best

Jessica can sing but she is very boring because she sounds exactly like the singers she mimics. Phillip phillips is orginal and much more talented but making everything his own

Jessica is a good copy cat. She is boring to listen too and is not original at all. Phillps is much more talented and consistent.

phillips is too good to be on american idol….! he could have just jumped mainstream music and give bruno mars or jason mraz a run for their guitars..!

Oh c’mon! Skylar belongs to an era past this generatio…her voice cannot even produce a number 1 album — her market too narrow, maybe a blockbuster in a bar or a town! or maybe your own personal bedroom!

Phillip is so special! He is a very special young man and should be allowed to proceed with the finale, he certainly deserves it ……..as he deserves to win. He is much more talented then Jessica, with his intense feeling of the music, and he writes his own music and he is very marketable. I was worried this week for him as his complexion even on television was pale, I commented on it……to my family. I hope he goes all the way, he and Jessica are very different entertainers, she is a sweet girl however he should win as he is the most talented………Good Luck Phillip choose the right songs……..

I hope Phillip isn’t competing if it is extremely dangerous but I agree that Idol finale is a once in a lifetime chance.
