Demi Lovato Dissed By 'X Factor': MUCH Less Money Than Britney Spears

Demi got a cool million to join Simon Cowell at ‘The X Factor’ judges table, but that’s nothing compared to the money Britney’s raking in!

Simon Cowell offered Demi Lovato a generous seven-figure salary to join him and L.A. Reid at The X Factor judges panel, but it paled in comparison to the salary pop superstar Britney Spears received!

Demi got a contract to become the newest judge for just over $1 million, but her co-star Britney will receive $15 million for her time, TMZ reports.

Simon insists Demi, 19, will attract a younger audience and has praised her accomplishments for such a young age. But Demi was willing to appease her new employer even more, arranging her upcoming tour around The X Factor tapings.

Britney Spears is the Princess of Pop. A global icon. Demi Lovato is just famous among 14 years old teenagers, maybe 17. Thats why Simon said she will attract a younger audience. Besides, Demi Lovato hasn’t accomplished much.

I think Demi is more popular (amongst different ages) than you realize. And what would you define as not having acomplished much? I mean, her albums have sold really well, she’s made numerous TV appearances (including on several different talk shows) and she’s done a lot of philanthropy stuff. Just because she’s not as well known as say Selena Gomez doesn’t mean she hasn’t acomplished much.

Has anyone notice that when Demi screws up it’s a big deal to everyone but when the other judges screw up its okay…. People give crap to Demi for sending Jillian home and for trying to work with her acts… But when Britney screwed up and sent Diamond home, what did they do! They brought her back!! Anyone remembers when LA tried to get Vino to sing nickelback (hmm yeah…) and Simon making emblem 3 into the boyband they say they’re not ( not original simon!)…. Anyways the x factor is starting to really piss me off!! Simon always criticizes Demi when she doesn’t agree with him but god forbids to say something to Britney when she’s done wrong…

You know, I don’t understand why people were giving Demi crap about sending Jillian home. Obviously it was a very very tough decision for her since both Jillian and Paige were in her category. And she had to do one or the other; that’s how it works. In my opinion, I think she made the right decision.

And yeah, I don’t understand what Britney was thinking when she sent Diamond home. Though I don’t care much for the songs she covers, she does have a great voice (especially for her age). It just kinda reminded me of last year when Simon sent home Melanie Amaro at Bootcamp only to bring her back later (and look who became the winner).

I’ve been watching the x factor since day one of this season and to be honest I’de rather have Demi as my mentor than britney… Demo is the only judge that will admit that she’s wrong and unlike britney, she listens to her acts! A lot of people give crap to demi but if you watch closely you’ll realise how much her mentoring has improved. And plus, I would rather be though by someone who can actually sing than by someone who overuses autotune!

It takes TALENT to sell records and make MILLIONS. Demi is barely even rich. Britney couldn’t even take Demi shopping in the same stores! C’mon people! Demi has a TINY fan base and she’s a horrible mentor! She got poor Jennel Garcia dumped from her bad advice. She shouldn’t even be a judge because she couldn’t make the top 10 if she were a contestant! Britney’s time is worth $15 million and I hardly think Demi draws an audience. I hope she doesn’t come back next season – her voice irritates me.

Demi definitely deserves more money, she gives more criticism and judgment to help the contestants improve than Britney does… She just gives faces and says that was awesome… the other judge to attract the older and more mature audience should either be lady gaga, ellen degeneres, beyonce knowles, or Adele…

I love both brit n demi. Im excited to see what this season will bring. I def think demi shld have gottin 5million as she is a judge. The winner of x factor recieves 5 million so why shldnt the judge or one of the judges be atleast that ? Eh id be great with a million but i do think she was low bald n when the winner turns around an has 5 million n really a no body an they already have more then she does she may pull out or say i want more.

No it doesn’t make her a better judge because Britney got paid more…. I think The X Factor just needed an inexpensive judge to make up for Brtney’s large expense. Demi is a “cheap” solution who has a ton of fans and will bring more viewers to the show. I love Demi and I’m SO GLAD she’s having a great comeback!

wow, don’t he haters just love to regurgitate what they want so desperately to believe. Britney has a great voice without AT and it’s been proven over and over even if she also happens to use it during some dance numbers. That said, it’s more about the art of the voice, how it’s controlled and what people feel happy hearing on their CD. It’s the way it’s done. The way Britney does it has brought her tons of fans. And no amount of AT can create a star out of thin air. That distinct sound comes from Britney. I run a recording studio and know my stuff. Yes, there are better singers, technically than either of these girls, BUT again, Britney has things in her voice no one else has. THAT is why she sells so much.

The mainstream exposure alone will significantly increase Demi’s profits. I’m certain she understands that. Demi has not made a ton of money in her career, comparatively speaking. Her accomplishments would lead you to believe that she has more then she actually has made, and that is most due to a lack of broad, mainstream exposure. Reading several forums on this confirmed my original suspicions. There are a TON of people who have absolutely no idea who Demi Lovato is. There are also a ton of people who have never heard of Selena Gomez and couldn’t even pick her out of a lineup. The exposure alone is worth the investment for Demi, also regardless of what she is being paid.

This I will agree with. The fact that she is on a mainstream exposed channel will significantly increase her cash flow. She’s made a lot of money but compared to britney spears? She is still relatively in the green when it comes to serious bank. Hell she didn’t even get mainstream exposure until fairly recently. It was only last year when her career seriously took off. The exposure she has gotten as well as now being on a successful tv show is going to seriously add to her bank even if she was paid less than a million.

Late on the commenting as I stumbled upon this just now… but that’s what I’ve been thinking too. Not happy that she’s way underpaid compared to Britney (though $1M is nothing to sneeze about). However, I am one of those people who marginally knew who she was but wasn’t really interested until I saw her on the X Factor. Granted, I came in to watch Britney (my childhood idol) but was disappointed by her lack of personality on the show. But here comes this other chick who’s totally not afraid to say what’s on her mind or defend herself in front of Simon (whom many of us would be afraid of if we were in her place). So… I got to looking her up online and now I’m a fan. Definitely will help her career. The exposure alone is priceless. And if she continues to charm us, well… I’ll be sold! haha.

@slei, don’t know what you mean by “lack of personality”. I think some people don’t know what personality really means. They think it means the person must be a loud, obnoxious, animated clown like LA Reid that’s out spoken and no manners. Britney is just simply polite, lady like and has good social skills. They invited her as a judge and that’s what she does. Any thing more risks becoming annoying. Demi’s immature outspokenness is annoying at times. Also so far Simon, La or Demi haven’t given Britney a reason to defend herself except a few times. And during those times, she did very well and she also spoke up for what she likes and doesn’t. What more can you ask for? Demi isn’t charming by the way. I’m sorry, but she’s fairly stupid. Just because she has talent as an artist and sells records doesn’t mean she’s all that. Charm? LOL,, come on, please… Also Demi needs to learn a little more respect for older people, and someone like Simon who runs the show to begin with. Sure she should speak up sometimes when she’s really right and Simon is really wrong. But often Demi goes way over board and says too much, showing she doesn’t know her place. Again a sign of immaturity. And at 20, that’s why. Most 20 years think they can say anything and think they know everything. That often comes with teenage years however.. I think Demi deserves atleast a better amount than $1 million. Atleast $3million. She’s sold around 10 million records, appeared in several television appearances, star in t.v. shows and movies.I think she deserves more.Hopefully if she succeeds as a judge in season 2, she’ll earn more after. She had a rough bump and the media had fun running with the stories which were mostly lies btw. I remember one week they said Britney had THREE car crashes. Two of them happened on the same day in two different places of the country. You have to understand that the paparazzi and media are mostly young 20something jerks trying to make a buck. If people that are not even mentally sane can be worth over 200 million as Britney is, that’s quite amazing, LOL. Britney isn’t over priced at all because she made 66 million one year. Britney picked up the title “Most Searched PERSON on the internet”, “Biggest selling Female Artist of all time” Britney Spears has not got the best vocals in the word. However she does have a decent unique voice and to make up with it she can dance and put on a show.
